Time to start the garden!
It was so easy to prep this year after starting last year!

We sowed peas early and put them in the ground today. Nikota was such a good helper haha. It just feels so good to get your hands in the earth! Much more to come!

We will be in and out of the garden today if people are interested in learning more! Shoot me a message! Please search an...

Well, it’s that time again! The garden had a great start last year so we are expanding. Loving the Charles Dowding No Dig method, so few weeds and very healthy soil.

We were blessed to have access to a well seasoned wood chip pile (thank you Arlene!) which is working great for the walkway around and between the beds. Cardboard is down to kill the grass and weeds in our new beds and soon that lovely Wi******er Gold will fill it in.

Then, the fun part! Seeds are already started inside and frost hardy plants will be ready to go out under garden fleece.

Trust me, it works 🐴 🤎🤍🤎

Chicken house update.
The chickens have been SUPER happy to be out and about after the fox 🦊 family moved out! They are also the quietest chickens I’ve ever had. Coincidence? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Likes: I’m loving the size of coop/chicken ratio. It feels ok whether they need to stay in or can go out. Big love is the roosting bar and sand tray underneath. My social media chicken community was spot on with this one! They leave droppings mostly while they are roosting which leaves the rest of the coop relatively clean. Occasional clean outs of the tray make coop cleaning a breeze!!
Would do differently:
The water bucket has special screw in attachments underneath for the chickens to drink from. The chickens love them, but they drip 💧, no good. Wet spots are a big no no for a chicken coop! Next time I’ll try the ones you put in the side with cups under them. For now we’ll need to find something to put under it so we don’t get wet shavings again.
All in all, we’ve got happy healthy chickens who will begin laying in a couple of weeks! @ Harvest Farms at Albin

Project day!

We had picked up this free old baker’s rack frame and I finally put it to use as a small potting bench. It’s super cute and will be very helpful as well!

It was also chicken coop clean out day. It’s a big coop but fits these girls so well. There’s just nothing like happy chickens in a freshly cleaned coop! 🐓 Next project for them will be a chicken tractor so they can get out some and not get eaten by our resident fox family 🦊! I’ll be happy when they move on! @ Harvest Farms at Albin
