Hoagie -
Weight: 40 lbs on 5/04
📌 Condition: Low QOL
⏰ Deadline: May 26th (5/26)
Hoagie, a neutered 1-year-old male Shepherd mix, has been with us since February and urgently needs someone willing to give him patience, structure, and a chance. 💙
Shelter life has been very stressful for him, and his kennel behavior can look rough — barking, jumping, barrier reactivity, nipping, and nervous leash handling have all been noted. He can be fearful with new people and environments, so slow introductions and continued confidence-building are important for him.
But outside of the kennel, Hoagie shows a completely different side. He’s playful, goofy, affectionate, puppy-like, and loves attention. Staff has seen major improvement over time — he’s becoming more comfortable with handling, walking on leash, taking treats, and interacting with people. He enjoys toys, exploring the yard, and has shown a balanced play style with other dogs. He’s also responsive to correction and handler guidance.
Hoagie is just a young dog with potential who is trying hard to trust. He needs an adopter, foster, or rescue willing to continue working with him and help him decompress outside the shelter environment. Please help us find Hoagie the fresh start he deserves. Thank you!
