Today, the 4th scholarship was awarded in Robbie’s memory at the high school where he graduated. What an honor it is to give back in his name and celebrate young people stepping into their future with hope, purpose, and dreams of their own.

Robbie loved learning, travel, and experiencing the world deeply. Through this scholarship, his story continues to reach forward and encourage others to do the same.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support this mission of love, remembrance, and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and su***de. His life still matters. His voice still echoes. ❤️

Hey, Char again. Here’s my answer to Question 2) In the years since losing Robbie, I’ve thought often about what a more proactive approach could look like. Here’s what we need.

Mental health and su***de awareness should be part of health education in schools.

The 988 Lifeline should be printed on every student ID.

We need stronger collaboration between schools, medical professionals, first responders, churches, and community organizations.

Most of all, we need to normalize these conversations.

As Robbie said: It shouldn’t be considered brave to talk about your mental health. It should be as easy as talking about your job.

This requires ALL of us!!!

May we keep creating spaces where people feel safe enough to say they are struggling—and confident they will be met with compassion, support, and hope.

That’s why this has to be bigger than one moment, one decision, or one system. This takes all of us—families, healthcare, schools, churches and communities—each with different responsibilities, all connected. We can’t be only reactive. We have to be proactive—normalizing mental health conversations, making support visible like the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, and helping people feel safe enough to ask for help earlier.

Hey, Char here again. Question 1 answer: I didn’t see signs throughout his life.

He was high-achieving, driven, and deeply respected.
He had a wide circle of friends, meaningful relationships, and was admired by his teachers and professors, employers etc.

From the outside, his life looked full. And in many ways, it truly was.

That’s what makes this so hard to understand—and so important to talk about.

Mental health struggles don’t always look the way we expect.
They don’t always show up as obvious warning signs.
Someone can be functioning, succeeding, even thriving in certain areas… and still be struggling in ways we cannot see.

We lost him.

And one of the hardest truths I’ve had to accept is this:
There can be a gap between what we see… and what someone is quietly carrying inside.

So please—don’t assume someone is “okay” based on what’s visible.
Check in. Ask again. Stay present.
Create space for real conversations.

You don’t have to have the perfect words—just show up.

Question 2 tomorrow….

Hey, Char here. Robbie’s Mom: The other day, I attended the 14th Annual Community Commitment for Change Conference - Breaking Barriers, Building Hope: The Power of Collaboration in Youth Mental Health & Su***de. ( That’s quite a title! ) It was filled with medical professionals, educators, first responders.

I was invited to sit on a panel: Learning From Loss: What Families and Professionals Want Communities to Know
A panel discussion including families and professionals connected to youth lost to su***de. (Another serious and important title)

I was asked several questions. Here are a couple very important questions I want to share:
1) Did I see any signs over his lifetime?
2) If you could redesign how schools, healthcare providers, or communities respond to struggling youth, what would you change?

Tomorrow…I post my answers.

This Valentine’s Day, don’t forget someone important… you.

Self-love isn’t selfish — it’s sacred.
Hydrate. Breathe. Stretch. Rest. Step outside.

Mark your squares today and show your heart a little extra care. đź’—
You deserve the same kindness you give to everyone else.

Loving ourselves well matters — maybe more than we realize.
Sometimes the greatest act of love is a glass of water, a deep breath, a moment of rest without guilt.

In honor of Robbie, we choose to love ourselves gently today.
We drink the water.
We take the breath.
We step outside.
We rest without guilt.

We speak kindly to ourselves.
We step outside.
We breathe.

Love doesn’t end.
It continues in how we tend to the life we’ve been given. ❤️

Mark your squares today and show your heart a little extra care. đź’—
You deserve the same kindness you give to everyone else.
