We believe everyone deserves safety, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive. Through our programs including Advocates of Routt County, Brighter World Child Advocacy Center, COMMA Projects, and the Q***r Futures Resource Center, we provide direct support, education, and advocacy for survivors of violence, children and teens, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Who has power in our community?

The answer is more complicated than job titles, income or who gets to make the final decision.

Power shapes who gets heard, who gets believed, who has access, who feels safe speaking up and whose experiences are treated as the norm. And many of us participate in these systems without consciously realizing it.

That’s why From Awareness to Action begins here.

On Tuesday, October 13, nationally recognized anti-oppression speaker and trainer Regan Byrd will lead a full day exploring Social Identity, Power & Privilege and the Four I’s of Oppression.

This isn’t about shame, blame or proving that you’re a “good person.” It’s about developing the tools to recognize how power operates in ourselves, our organizations and our communities, and figuring out what we can do with that knowledge.

Because awareness is only the beginning.

You do not have to attend all four days of the series to participate. Join us for Tuesday, the full series, or the sessions that work for you.

This full-time position supports children, teens, vulnerable adults, and non-offending family members while coordinating services and conducting forensic interviews after completing required training.

"Sometimes, what they need most is a calm, caring voice to help them begin to see a way forward."

We are honored to celebrate Lori Livingston, whose inspiring story as a SafeLine volunteer was recently featured in Steamboat Neighbors Magazine.

In the article, Lori shares why she became involved with Advocates of Routt County and how SafeLine volunteers provide a calm, caring voice for people experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, trafficking, and other crises. Her story is a powerful reminder that one conversation can make a life-changing difference.
