Western Resilience Center is proud to endorse Proposition 137 for Colorado’s land and water.

The threat of wildfire is rapidly increasing statewide. Colorado just experienced its worst snowpack ever recorded, and we’re in the midst of a historic drought. Extreme heat and drought make wildfire a year-round threat for Colorado communities, water supplies, and landscapes.

Without raising taxes, this measure will allow the state to keep the money it receives from the existing state sales tax on sporting goods and equipment and invest that money in programs that will help reduce the chances that wildfires become severe, help communities prepare for wildfire, restore forests after they’ve been burned, and create healthy, fire-adapted watersheds. Every dollar spent now to reduce the risk of wildfire saves $6 in the long run, helping to prevent problems before they become crises.

ART LOVERS: Spend the morning of October 17 creating temporary land art outside at Chuck Lewis State Wildlife Area during Western Resilience Center's ReTree planting!

Join to learn about ReTree and Insight: Art for Climate Action. We will then collect sticks, rocks, and other natural materials to create an impermanent design while observing and learning about the local ecosystem. Bring a tote bag to help collect materials as you wander and explore!

A group of awesome volunteers came out this weekend to help us plant cottonwoods and alders along the river for ReTree 2027 day 1! These trees help sequester carbon and shade the river.

ARTISTS: Bring your paints, or sketchbook and enjoy creating outside at Chuck Lewis State Wildlife Area the morning of October 10th. The event will be joining Western Resilience Center's ReTree planting event.
