🎉 Happy United Way Founding Day! Celebrating 139 Years of United Impact! ❤️

For 139 years, United Way has brought people together to create stronger communities, open doors of opportunity, and make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Today, we celebrate the power of collective action and the belief that when we come together, we can accomplish so much more than we ever could alone. Every act of kindness, every hour volunteered, and every contribution helps build a brighter future for all.

As we honor our legacy, we look ahead with renewed purpose, knowing that our greatest impact comes when we stand united.

Because we can do more together. Because together, we are stronger. And because United is the Way. 💙

Our Community Thanksgiving Dinner is almost here, and we're already thinking about the volunteers who make it happen.

This dinner is open to everyone and made possible only because of the generous local businesses, food donors, and neighbors who show up to help over 700 people. Last year's event brought in more than 78 community food donations and 163 volunteers, a reminder of how much heart this community has for taking care of its own.

We'll need help with meal preparation, setup, serving, delivery, and cleanup once this year's plans are finalized. Get on the list at unitedwayoftheyampavalley.org/thanksgiving-dinner.

Welding. Plumbing. Electrical work. Carpentry. Cosmetology. Landscaping. Aviation technology. Northwest Colorado needs skilled workers across these fields, and our Yampa Valley Skilled Trades Scholarship Program helps residents access the training to meet that need.

Last year, we awarded $17,000 in scholarships, but we did not meet the need within our communities. With additional support, we can help more local residents pursue the certifications, licenses, and hands-on training that lead to stable, in-demand careers.

Every graduate strengthens the local workforce and helps close the gap between open jobs and qualified workers across Moffat, Rio Blanco, and Routt counties.

Your donation helps fund the next round of scholarships. Support the program at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/skillstradescholarship2026.

Please join us in welcoming Alan to the United Way of the Yampa Valley Board of Directors!

After many years of visiting Steamboat, Alan and his wife, Lynn, made Northwest Colorado home in 2019. Following a distinguished 44-year legal career—including leadership roles with Barclays and as external general counsel for a concentrated solar energy plant in Nevada—Alan is excited to connect with and contribute to the Yampa Valley community.

Alan brings valuable nonprofit board experience, along with a deep commitment to community involvement. When he and Lynn are not volunteering their time, they enjoy skiing, hiking, pickleball and traveling.

We’re grateful to have Alan’s expertise and passion helping advance community impact across Northwest Colorado. Welcome, Alan!
