BookTrails: Reading and writing enrichment through outdoor exploration! BookTrails is an organization that promotes a love of literacy in all people.

Our programs aim to create a new way to experience the joys of reading and writing. BookTrails allows our students to experience and feel as though they are the main character in the favorite story—whether it is building a survival shelter, running through a stream bed, or sketching in a meadow. By focusing on the use of reading and writing to teach environmental principals, our students are given a unique perspective to view both literature and the natural world. BookTrails offers a memorable summer learning experience with our Reading on Ranches Camp. BookTrails hosts several week-long summer programs, focused on a common environmental theme matched with a book. Children spend the week in the outdoors while enriching their reading and writing skills during summer vacation. Our students also learn about the importance of local ranching and agriculture while exploring pristine and beautiful landscape. BookTrails also offers programming during the school year. Our after school programs provide students with an opportunity to improve their reading and writing skills through fun, innovative activities. We also offer one-on-one tutoring sessions at a very affordable cost.

15 years, 3,200+ children, seven states, and one core belief: reading can become an adventure for any child.

Each summer, BookTrails helps more than 220 children spend 1,200+ hours reading and 10,000+ hours outdoors. Thanks to your ongoing generosity, we can fund BookTrails Scholars and Camp Grants so every child has access to literacy adventures.

Celebrate this impact (and help invest in the next 100 years!) at the BookTrails 15th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, November 7.

For 15 years, our community has helped transform pages into trails and young readers into confident storytellers. On November 7, we’ll celebrate this shared story at Aurum with a Books to Movies theme, dinner, literary games, entertainment, and auctions filled with memorable experiences.

Your ticket is more than a seat at the table. Gala support helps subsidize participation, expand Camp Grants, sustain BookTrails Scholars, and care for the Reading Ranch, so more children can discover that reading belongs to them.

We would love to celebrate this milestone with you!

BookTrails began with a book on a riverbank. It was there that our founder, Emily Krall Osterman, had a simple but powerful idea: giving every child access to exceptional literacy experiences.

What started 15 years ago has now grown into a legacy of outdoor literacy adventures based at the solar-powered Reading Ranch.

On November 7, we’ll honor the people who have built this story and invite our community to help us write the next chapters. Join us for the BookTrails 15th Anniversary Gala!

Already??

As another BookTrails summer comes to a close, we're reflecting on all of the friendships, rapids, muddy boots, and favorite stories we encountered this season. Witnessing these magical moments of discovery never gets old.

Of course, none of it would be possible without our families, staff, volunteers, and generous supporters. Together, you're helping children become confident readers and curious explorers. Thank you for believing in the power of books!

Here's to turning the page to the next exciting chapter. ❤️🌲📚
