The Oregon Tarpan horses have walked in this wisdom since before they were gathered from the wilds of the desert. In each shared experience with them, you can feel this primal knowing of your own free and wholly expressive self rising back into presence.

This month we are joined with Horses for Mental Health and Tarpan Horse Conservation Program to raise funds that directly support this herd in their sharing of wellness wisdoms with humans who need it! Today is the last day donations are matched dollar for dollar - the fundraising campaign is active through May 31. Help the herd share their medicine!

We are very grateful to all of those who contributed to our participation in the Horses for Mental Health 2026 campaign. As a special gift, we welcomed Pearl to the Tarpan horse herd in North America. Here she is, 20 minutes after her birth on May 23 with her mother, Sapphire. We brought Sapphire all the way from Alberta to New Mexico in late March! This is her first foal. Generous people help little miracles happen.

Thanks to the The HALT Foundation and Horses for Mental Health Arc of Augusta and Tarpan Horse Conservation Program had a marvelous time at the Virginia Barrel Racing Classic watching marvelous horses and riders! Dazzled!

We are entering the last week of the Horses for Mental Health 2026 Campaign and many have generously contributed to Tarpan Horse Conservation Program! Last week, with Arc participants and support from The HALT Foundation, we attended dressage and jumping events at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington! I admit that the horses enthralled me so much I forgot to take photos! Here are a few....

Supported by The HALT Foundation, Tarpan Horse Conservation Program and Arc of Augusta visited the Akhal-Teke Foundation. The Foundation carefully breeds and conserves these rare horses that roamed for centuries with nomadic people of Turkmenistan. Akhal-Tekes are ancestors of today's thoroughbreds, Lipizzaners and other major breeds...We had heard of their beauty and energy but never expected how friendly they would be around their young foals! We learned so much!

After their visit to Hope's Legacy Equine Rescue with support from The HALT Foundation, Arc of Augusta participants and Tarpan Horse Conservation Program contributed to the sponsorship of Fiesta Burrito! Sarah Oliva told us that Burrito came as a newborn whose mother was not producing milk. She needed plasma infusions, multiple daily feedings, and several vet visits. Through the work and dedication of their foster, vets, and community of supporters, this little donkey was able to get the care she needed to help her through her first week of life. Burrito has been adopted! Here she is!

Tarpan Horse Conservation Program participated with Arc of Augusta at Kids Matter last weekend. Families stopped to talk to us and some generously donated to the Horses for Mental Health Campaign! A family we met visited our Tarpan Horses in the pouring rain Monday morning. We have a matching donor this week so a little adds up...Consider a small donation here:
