Let’s hear it for SCS!

We have some BIG NEWS that should make all of Staunton proud!

Staunton City Schools earned an A− overall grade from Niche and ranks among Virginia’s best:

⭐ TOP 10: #9 of 130 — Best Places to Teach in VA
⭐ TOP 20: #17 of 130 — Best School Districts in VA

Behind those numbers are many people who make a difference every day: dedicated and talented teachers and staff, hardworking students, and supportive families, volunteers, PTAs and community partners who help our schools thrive.

Thanks to ALL OF YOU who partner, support and uplift our learning community. This is a shared accomplishment and illustrates that YOU MATTER HERE.

A great place to learn. A great place to teach. We are SCS!

What a day for the STORM! 🌈⚡️

Yesterday, we celebrated our FIRST EVER SHS Homecoming Color Run, with nearly 150 students joining us for an afternoon of colorful fun under some absolutely gorgeous skies!

Pulling off an event like this takes a village, and WOW, do we have an incredible one! We have some very special people and organizations to thank:

❤️ VIAD Charity Fund and Redbeard Brewing Company for sponsoring our Kindness Matters initiative, allowing 40 additional students to participate!

❤️ Consumers Auto Warehouse for generously sponsoring ALL of the supplies needed to make this event possible!

❤️ Chris Lassiter for volunteering his time and talent to capture some awesome photos!

❤️ Shelburne Middle School for loaning us their snow cone machine!

❤️ Staunton-Augusta Family YMCA for printing our Color Run posters!

❤️ And the countless parents, volunteers, and community members who donated their time, energy, and resources to help make the day a success!

We are incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by a community that consistently shows up for our schools and our kids. THIS is what community looks like!

While we're thrilled with the success of the event, nothing compares to seeing the JOY on our students' faces. That's what makes all the work worthwhile. ❤️

And now, one final ask!

The Color Run is our PTSA's sole fundraiser of the year, and we are just $500 away from reaching our goal!

Why does that matter? Because every dollar raised goes right back into supporting our school community. Throughout the year, our PTSA helps make things happen that might not otherwise be possible. From supporting memorable student experiences like Homecoming and Prom, to providing classroom supplies and resources for teachers, celebrating and appreciating our hardworking staff, supporting schoolwide activities, and helping create opportunities that make our students feel connected, valued, and proud to be part of SHS.

Our fundraising isn't just about one event. It's about what we can do for our students and staff ALL YEAR LONG.

If you feel inclined to help us close that final $500 gap, we would be SO grateful! Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference.
