Caregivers are often more tired than we think. Sometimes they just need someone to walk beside them.

Thursday is “CareFront” day, for The 2nd Front.

A lot of attention gets placed on the person carrying PTSD, trauma, or life stressors, but there’s often someone walking beside them carrying part of that weight too.

Spouses. Parents. Adult children. Family members. Friends.

They are The 2nd Front.

HUB will be open late tonight until 10:00 PM. Anyone who needs a place to stop in, decompress, connect, or just be around other people is welcome 🤗

THURSDAY • COMMUNITY WINDOW

Most people don’t arrive looking for support.
They arrive looking for something they can tolerate.

Coffee.

A place to sit.
A dog to pet.
A conversation.
A reason to get out of the house.

Connection.

Sometimes connection happens because nobody demanded it.

Caregiver conversations often focus on what spouses, partners, and family members learn about PTSD.

The triggers.
The warning signs.
The difficult days.
The things that help.

And they do learn them.

But something we don’t talk about enough is that many veterans, first responders, and trauma survivors are learning too.

They learn your routines.
Your stress signals.

The moments when you’re exhausted.
The look you get when you’re carrying too much.

The things that make you feel safe, valued, and supported.

Relationships affected by trauma aren’t one-way streets.

The strongest ones become partnerships built on observation, adaptation, patience, and trust.

Not because either person is perfect.

Because both people keep learning each other.
Sometimes that’s what love looks like.

Not fixing.
Learning.
Together.

Sometimes our minds are tangled. But healing is not always linear. And that is how the healing begins. Making connections, walking side by side with nonjudgmental friends, and those who truly see you makes all the difference.

June is CPR & AED Awareness Month.

A quick thank you to the team at Iredell County EMS for helping recertify me last year and for everything they do for our community every day.

CPR and AED training are one of those skills you hope you never need, but when seconds matter, they can make all the difference.

If you’ve ever thought about taking a class, consider doing it. You never know whose life you might help save.

Thank you to our local EMS professionals, paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, and everyone who helps keep Iredell County safe.

🛜 We’re more connected than ever. 📱

Texts.
Messages.
Notifications.
Social media.

Yet many people still feel isolated.
Still feel lonely in the middle of endless notifications.

Communication matters.
But connection usually happens differently.

A shared cup of coffee.
A game.
A conversation.
Simply being around other people without pressure.

That’s why The PTSD exists.

We’re open today from 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM for anyone who wants a place to decompress, create, talk, work on something, or just spend time around other people.

🚐 The VetCab is now operational today as well.

Men’s Mental Health Week is coming up, and we’re excited to be partnering with Galaxy Arcade in Statesville for a low-pressure community activity night. This will be FREE of charge, as always.

📅 June 9
🕔 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 Galaxy Arcade, Statesville

No presentations.
No expectations.
No pressure to share.

Just games, conversation, community, and a chance to spend time around other people who understand that life isn’t always easy.

At The PTSD, we believe connection often starts with an activity before it starts with a conversation.

More details coming soon. We hope to see you there.

Wednesday • Carefront

One thing we don’t talk about enough:

The person holding everything together is usually carrying something too.

Appointments.
Schedules.
Loneliness.
Bills.
Medications.
Uncertainty.

Caregiving often happens quietly.

Most people only see the parts that are visible.
They rarely see the weight behind them.

If you’re carrying more than most people realize, we see you.
