Frankie Dunn is one of many veterans whose path home hasn't been easy.

After losing his wife, his home to a fire, and later suffering a stroke, Frankie was living in a storage shed while trying to rebuild his life. When Purple Heart Homes learned about his situation, a new accessible tiny home gave him the opportunity to live safely, independently, and with dignity once again. 🏡

No veteran should have to wonder where they'll sleep or whether their home is safe. There are more veterans like Frankie waiting for someone to stand beside them during life's most difficult moments.

The right housing solution looks different for every veteran.

Sometimes it's a ramp or an accessible bathroom that makes an existing home safer. Other times, the answer is an entirely new place to call home. 🛠️

The goal is the same: 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦.

Purple Heart Homes’ Board of Directors came together in Statesville this August with one focus: how to best guide the mission into its next chapter. 💜

The Purple Heart Homes Board of Directors and leadership team gathered for the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭, taking time to reflect on the past year, strengthen alignment, and focus on how we can continue serving Veterans and their families well in the years ahead.

The conversations centered on the responsibility that comes with growth and the people at the heart of every decision: the Veterans we serve, the communities that surround them, and the partners and supporters who make this work possible. 🏡

For Marine Corps veteran Willie Jordan Jr., the steps outside his home had become a daily barrier. Mobility challenges and recovery from open heart surgery made simply getting in and out of his home increasingly difficult.

𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞. 🏡

With support from The Home Depot Foundation, Team Depot volunteers, and the Purple Heart Homes Golden Corner Chapter, a new modular home was completed with Willie’s safety, accessibility, and independence in mind.

Ken Raymer’s home has a new roof, new skylights, and new gutters, but the best part of this project is how many people came together to make it happen. 💜

Home Genius Exteriors, Owens Corning, ABC Supply Co., Richards Building Supply, and Purple Heart Homes each had a role in making this home improvement possible for the Army Veteran.

That is the power of partnership: everyone bringing what they do best to serve Veterans like Ken.

On June 18th, Home Genius Exteriors joined forces with Owens Corning Roofing, Purple Heart Homes, ABC Supply Co. Inc., and Richards Building Supply to give Army veteran Ken Raymer a home upgrade he'll never forget — a new roof, new skylights, and new gutters, all through the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project.

This is what happens when the right partners show up for the right cause. Owens Corning powers the mission nationwide. Purple Heart Homes connects it to the veterans who need it most. ABC Roofing and Richards Building Supply partnered with Home Genius Exteriors to provide skylights, gutters, and 5-Star roof installation.

"This roof is our way of saying thank you," said Brent Miller, Executive Vice President and Co-Founder of Home Genius Exteriors. "It represents gratitude, respect, and our commitment to honoring those who have sacrificed for our country."

This initiative has helped more than 800 veterans nationwide, Ken among the latest. That's what's possible when great companies decide to do good, together.

For 18 years, we have had the privilege of saying two words that mean so much: 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞. 💜

They mark the moment when a veteran can look at their home and see what is possible again. A safer way inside. A bathroom they can use independently. Repairs that bring peace of mind. Sometimes, an entirely new place to call home.

Mission Complete Ceremonies bring veterans together with the volunteers, partners, families, and communities who stood beside them throughout the project. They give us a moment to celebrate what was accomplished and, more importantly, what it means for the veteran moving forward. 🏡

As we look back on 18 years, these moments tell so much of our story. Different veterans. Different homes. Different communities. One shared belief that those who served deserve to feel safe and independent at home.

And we are not finished.

There are more veterans waiting for the day we can gather with their community and say, Mission Complete.

At the end of September, Purple Heart Homes will begin building a fully accessible modular home in Washington, D.C. Once complete, the home will be fully gifted to an eligible veteran who is ready to begin a new chapter in Glasgow, Virginia.

To qualify, the nominee must:

• Be a service-connected disabled veteran
• Have received an honorable or general discharge
• Be willing to relocate to Glasgow, Virginia
• Own and occupy the home as their primary residence
• Veterans from all eras and branches of service are welcome

This past Saturday, Mike Lennon and Jay Thompson with the Rockbridge Patriot Chapter spent time in Lexington, Virginia, sharing more about Purple Heart Homes, the upcoming National Mall Veteran Home Build, and the search for the veteran who will ultimately receive the home in Glasgow.

Their willingness to spend their time connecting with the community, answering questions, and helping spread the word is exactly what local chapter involvement looks like. 🏡

The 17th Annual Tee Off For A Veteran Golf Tournament is almost here. 🇺🇸⛳

Next weekend, golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters will gather at The Warrior Golf Club for two days of golf and giving in support of veterans.

Thank you to everyone who has registered, donated, sponsored, or helped spread the word. The support for this year's tournament has been incredible, and we're looking forward to another great weekend on the course.
