🥣 FIVE COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS. 23 BOWLS. $11,500 IN SUPPORT! ❤️

Now THAT is something worth celebrating!

A HUGE thank you to Gordon Iron & Metal, Opus Financial Advisors, Bobcat Doosan, Carris Reels, and Iredell Health System for stepping up in a BIG way for Fifth Street Ministries' 2026 Empty Bowls!

Together, these five incredible community partners have sponsored 23 handcrafted bowls, representing $11,500 in support of our neighbors facing crisis.

And they're not alone! So far, 67 bowls have been sponsored toward our goal of 120. That's 67 individuals, families, businesses, and organizations saying, "Our community matters, and we want to be part of the solution."

But we still have 53 bowls waiting for sponsors!

🥣 Could your business, church, family, or group of friends help us fill one? A bowl sponsorship is $500, and every sponsorship helps Fifth Street continue sheltering and empowering people in crisis.

❤️ That’s a wrap on Love & Logic!

Today our team completed our third and final session with Pharos Parenting. A huge thank you to Heather for spending the past three weeks with us and giving our team practical tools we can use every day.

Today’s big takeaway: show empathy, but hand the problem back.

“I bet that hurts.”
“What do you think you’re going to do?”
“Would you like to hear a few ideas?”

Rather than solving every problem for someone, we can help them consider options, think through consequences and build confidence in making their own decisions.

We also talked about contributions instead of chores — using everyday responsibilities like emptying the trash, cleaning, laundry and caring for shared spaces to build life skills. Clear expectations, breaking tasks into manageable steps and teaching someone how to do something can make all the difference.

That fits perfectly with our work at Fifth Street: helping people build the skills and confidence needed for greater stability and self-sufficiency.

And a special thank you to Board Member Nick Martin for treating our staff to an amazing lunch of ribs, chicken, pork, beans, collards and ALL the sauces! 😋

A great way to wrap up three weeks of learning together! ❤️

💙 Learning to Listen. Learning to Help.

Several members of our Fifth Street Ministries team recently had the opportunity to attend a Su***de Prevention Workshop provided at no cost by Let’s Talk Strength.

Quany Dials, My Sister’s House Case Manager; Sam Short, Fifth Street Case Manager; and Tina May, Front Desk Support (not pictured) participated in the training, gaining additional tools to recognize warning signs, respond with compassion, and help connect people with support and resources.

Quany shared this reflection after the training:

“This workshop was a powerful reminder that we should never underestimate the impact of simply being there for someone. Listening without judgment, recognizing the signs, and showing compassion can make a difference. Sometimes one conversation or one caring person can help someone find hope.”

For our team, continuing to learn is an important part of serving people who may be experiencing some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

A special thank you to Let’s Talk Strength Inc. for providing this important training free of charge and investing in those who serve our community. 💙
