Field Trip time!! (mini edition) πŸ˜„πŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ
Earlier, we told everyone about our very special guests in front of the Emma Kelly Theater today, so of course, our campers were curious!

After a nice lunch at the Roxie Remley studios, our instructor, Syrin, brought all the kids from this week's summer camps on a quick little walk over to the theater. There, they learned about the weather team, got to check out their special storm chaser car with all the cool instruments, and they even got rain gauges as a little souvenir.

What a great way to end the day! Thank you, WTOC, for welcoming our campers and helping everyone be better prepared for severe weather.

Travel update from our campers in Around the World in 5 Days! πŸš— πŸ—Ί

On Monday, they went to Mexico, where they took time to observe gorgeous desert scenes, sample tasty quesadillas made with blue corn tortillas, and create their own Frida Kahlo-inspired terra cotta plant pots. It was a truly great way to start off the week and prepare our campers for the journey ahead!

On Tuesday, they traveled to Taiwan, taking in the tall temples and beautiful scenery to create their own solar-powered paper lanterns and posters. When hunger called, they learned how to make tapioca pearls, often used for the popular drink bubble tea, and sampled rice crackers and colorful rice paper wontons.

On Wednesday, our campers visited Poland and were instantly drawn in by the rich history of folk and modern art, bursting with bright hues of every color of the rainbow. Of course, they carried the colorful theme into their own clay and paper creations as well! But travel makes one hungry, so when they finally put down their brushes, they picked up the spatula to try their hand at cooking Polish crepes (AKA Nalesniki).

Today, they're busy discovering a new land. Any guesses where they could be headed? We left you a hint in the last photo. πŸ§πŸ˜„

More photos coming soon, summer camp rocks!

Jokes aside, check out these awesome projects from our Clay Adventures camp! They made handmade ceramic coil pots, ceramic tiles, and more! We can't wait to see what else comes out of the kilns. Stay tuned for more camp pictures!

Fun with Artists camp had a very special visitor this week! πŸ˜„

While our campers learned about many incredible artists this week, like Van Gogh, Monet, and Warhol, our camp instructor, Cheyenne, found a way to make this week even more exciting.

She invited local artist / Assistant Professor of Art Foundations at Georgia Southern, Melissa Huang, to our humble studio to talk to the kids about being an artist and show them some of her work. Melissa's portfolio is full of vibrant, expressive oil paintings, each with their own distinct style and story. It was so cool to see a few of her works in person!

Thank you so much for talking and inspiring us, Melissa!

Who needs airplanes when we've got the whole world right here? As kids, we've all bothered our parents about taking a vacation or traveling to another country. Of course, we know now it's just not that easy... πŸ˜…βœˆ

Luckily, your kids won't need to go through TSA or be bored out of their minds on a cross-country flight because there's an exciting summer camp right here in Statesboro that'll scratch that travel itch and engage their creativity all week long!

Around the World in Five Days is a visual arts summer camp taught by Georgina Osuna Diaz, belovedly nicknamed Mrs. G by her many students. Mrs. G introduces campers to some of the different cultures found around the world and leads them through delightful culinary, musical, and visual arts projects inspired by each place they learn about. This full-day summer camp welcomes all adventure-seeking kids ages 6 - 13. This is one of Mrs. G's favorite camps to teach and has gotten stellar reviews from previous campers.

This camp begins on June 23rd and lasts all week til June 27th (it's in our Week 4 list of camps!). Sign up online to join or give us a call at 912-212-2787.

Exploring Keith Haring this week of his birthday!! He was an American artist whose pop art emerged from the New York City graffiti subculture of the 1980s. His animated imagery has "become a widely recognized visual language". Our Art Adventures artists did an amazing two day pop art project!! Art Adventures Rocks!!!
