If you could spend even one hour of your time doing something that makes a difference, would you?

We do. 😎

Very aggressive vines are trying to take over many of the trees in campsites at our beloved home camp, Black Creek Scout Reservation. Today our youth and adults participating in the troop’s outdoor activity this month worked hard at Osprey campsite removing as many of these vines as possible. Unfortunately, one tree was in really bad shape and ended up needing cut down. The roadway behind the campsite is much more clear and many young trees have been freed to continue growing strong.

Congratulations to this weekend’s campers! Your dedication and hard work has earned each of you the Conservation Good Turn award.

From participating in Trash the Trash Day with Earth Tribe at Camp Tolochee (John Hutflies in the green shirt with members of other units in our Council) to Scouts Read Sacred Texts (at home with their families) to a super fun game of Duck Duck Goose at the end of this week’s meeting (Bryleigh Cobb, Sarah Wallace, Johnny Gleissner, Christopher Kelly, Rick Newell, John Hutflies, and Sabias Hallisey pictured), our Scouts have been staying involved and staying active!

Last night Crew 935 held their first meeting and made lots of progress on getting their unit up and running! Plus we welcomed 3 more members!!

Warm welcome to Nolen Collins, Sean Wallace, and Sarah Wallace!

We discussed officer roles and actually ended up with individual volunteers for all of the essential roles, ratified by the rest of the members, so no competitive election was held this round. These young men and women will hold their positions until next year’s elections. Congratulations to the following individuals:

President: Evan Taormina
Vice President of Administration: Rick Newell, IV
Vice President of Program: Brian Wallace
Vice President of Communications: Weston Skrak
Treasurer: JD Hutflies, Jr.
Quartermaster: Nolen Collins
Chaplain’s Aide: Bryleigh Cobb

We know you will lead your Crew well!

If anyone would like to join our Venturing Crew, you must be ages 14-20. Please email us at [email protected] for more information!

With recent Wilderness First Aid training under a couple of belts, a list of needs for adequate first aid supplies was put together. A $100 donation from one individual got us started ordering what we could, but our wish list was still pretty lengthy!

Enter our friends at The American Legion Dexter Allen Post 90 & Auxiliary to save the day!! The majority of our wish list has now been purchased, along with 2 awesome trauma kit backpacks. Yesterday morning a few gentlemen got up extra early on their Saturday to make a trip to visit some extended Scouting family in Effingham and load up produce to take over to the Statesboro Food Bank! Great job to Richard, Rick, and JD!!

Big thank you to Ms. Janice for getting in touch with us so we could facilitate transporting the food to get it to families in need. May God bless you for blessing others!!

Apologies for the late post! I’ve been a bit under the weather and slacking on my social media duties!!

The 2025 Twin Rivers Cook-o-Ree was a massive success! From Friday night hangouts to a full day of cooking on Saturday along with fishing and exploring the park, followed by the event’s first official Campfire that included Ms. Kate’s Wood Badge beading, it was a fun-filled weekend! We finished up with a wonderful Scout’s Own service from Mr. Frank on Sunday morning with awards to follow, then got everyone out before the rain really hit hard.

Big shout out to Scoutmaster Jim who starts working on the next year’s cook-o-ree DURING the current one. Your dedication to creating a tradition for our district and helping our kids make memories to last a lifetime is very much appreciated.

Thank you to Assistant Scoutmaster Richard for your hard work on making all of the event awards.

To our judges: we could not have pulled this off without your help. We hope you have recovered from eating so much! 😂

Congratulations to the troop for the folllowng awards:

YOUTH:
2nd place international appetizer
3rd place European breakfast
The Burnt Spoon

ADULTS:
1st place Asian dinner
1st place around the world dessert
2nd place European breakfast
