Happy !

Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.

Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.

The Statesboro Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., alongside the The XI ETA Chapter of DELTA SIGMA THETA and the Jiann Ping Hsu College of Public Health wants to thank everyone who came out to participate in our “Rhythm Reset: Learning How To Pause With Purpose” event.

The energy in the room was powerful, and it was truly special to gather with so many amazing women committed to rest, reflection, and renewal. Thank you to everyone who showed up, leaned in, and shared in such a meaningful space.

A very special thank you to our soror, Dr. Patrice Buckner Jackson for pouring into us with such wisdom and care. Your expertise, thoughtful guidance, and intentional approach created a safe and uplifting environment where we could openly share our stories and connect with one another.

The inaugural “Juneteenth Charity Golf Classic”, to be held on June 19, 2026 at the Ga. Southern Golf Course. Registration starts at 8:30a and TEE TIME is at 9:30a.

The Cause
Proceeds from this tournament are vital to “support local”. The Community First Partnership directly supports the Boro Back-2-School Bash; providing school supplies and resources for parents and kids, Home for the Holiday’s; providing Holiday Meals and Toys/Gifts, and Scholarships for local High School Seniors.
