Another incredibly successful day for the South Shore Kiwanis Club and Kids Against Cancer! Santa's Express Bus rolled onto Bricktown Way packed with toys and adorned with festive holiday lights and decorations. Santa's Express ended its long journey from the North Pole at Applebee's to the joy of 200 fans of Santa, Mrs Claus and their Elve's! Thank you to Doherty's Enterprises and Applebee's Grill + Bar for their incredible generosity each year and their amazing team led my Krista Bodmann . They make it so special for everyone, every year. Thank you to Bill Lewis who is the most authentic Santa, with real beard and all, his daughter Victoria for being the most adorable and helpful Elf, and Gina Marie Wilkins-Mirabile who plays the most beautiful and heartwarming Mrs Claus. Each year Kids Against and the South Shore Kiwanis Club team up to make this event memorable, and free of charge for our KAC Kids, their familes, our special needs friends, and those less fortunate in our community. Santa's Express Bus is out spreading Christmas cheer again this year! Thank you to everyone at The MTA, Mark Demeno and all the volunteers that made today so special. For more than 30 years, the MTA has dedicated a bus to Kids Against Cancer and each year the incredible people at The MTA convert the everyday commuter bus into the absolutely incredible Santa's Express! The bus spent all day Friday spreading joy and toys to the children at SIUH and RUMC pediatric units. Tomorrow morning, Santa's Express will roll into the Doherty's Applebee's Grill + Bar parking lot, adorned with festive lights and decorations. After a belly filling pancake breakfast, our special guests will experience a casual stroll through Santa's Express while meeting Santa, Mrs Claus and their Elve's! Laughter throughout the room, bellys filled with breakfast, bags overflowing with toys, smiles stretched across faces and families feeling loved. Merry Christmas from Kids Against Cancer and the South Shore Kiwanis Club!

The South Shore Kiwanis Club is going "Wild" again! Our annual Wild Game Dinner benefitting Kids Against Cancer and The Alex Inserra Scholarship will be held January 22nd, from 6-10pm at The Vanderbilt. We have some great new additions to this year's event, so hoping that you will join us for an incredible night with family, friends and an absolutely delectable variety of wild game! You will not be disappointed. This is Staten Island's original Wild Game Dinner, started by our Kiwanis brother, Alex Inserra. Alex was the owner of The Renaissance Catering Hall and innocently started this event more than 30 years ago with a small group of friends after a successful weekend hunt! Sadly, Alex never had a chance to see just how popular and successful this event has become, but I'm sure he would be incredibly proud. Alex died April 28, 2008 from Leukemia, but his impact will never fade and his wife Christine Bellotti Inserra along with his children Cristopher, Alexa DelPrete and Allison Christie have carried the torch that shines brighter than ever! A great cause while having a great time, so cool. Thank you.
