Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 DAR Historic Preservation Grants! 🏛️

Each year, the DAR provides funding to chapters and local nonprofits working to preserve historic sites, safeguard documents, and protect cultural treasures in communities across the country.

One recent recipient: The historic Harrisville Train Depot was built in 1901 and is one of few remaining passenger train depots in Michigan’s Northern Lower Peninsula. Situated within viewing distance of Lake Huron, and alongside a working rail line, it’s a true forgotten treasure tucked away within the City of Harrisville. The depot is constructed of locally sourced cut limestone and was designed by esteemed architects in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. At 125 years old, the Depot's cut stone building is vulnerable to weather damage and other issues. This grant allowed the Friends of the Harrisville Train Depot to stabilize the roof structure and complete strategic interior work which was a key priority to bring the structure to baseline preservation before further damage was incurred.

In Honor of America 250! Richmond County Daughters were excited and proud to host 21 US Navy Sailors from the USS Kearsarge and Royal Dutch Sailors from HDMS Iver Huitfeldt at the Staten Island FerryHawks game last night! They brought luck to the FerryHawks who won the game.

As they leave to go home this morning we wish them safe travels and calm seas.

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July from the Richmond County Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution! 🇺🇸

As we celebrate our nation’s independence and America 250, we honor the brave Patriots who fought for our freedom, as well as the generations of service members and veterans who have defended those freedoms ever since.

May we all take a moment today to reflect on the blessings of liberty, remember those who have sacrificed for our country, and celebrate the enduring spirit of America.

Wishing you and your family a safe, happy, and patriotic Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙

The final night at NSDAR Continental Congress was amazing. The Richmond County Daughters had a wonderful evening at National Defense Night, one of the DAR’s cherished traditions celebrating the pillar of Patriotism.

This special evening marked the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, as we honored the memory of those lost and celebrated deserving award recipients for their service and dedication.

A meaningful night of remembrance, patriotism, and fellowship. ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
