***BIG APPLE HONOR FLIGHT: MISSION #7 ANNOUNCEMENT - SATURDAY, MAY 8TH***

***NOW OPEN TO ALL VETERANS FROM WWII THROUGH DESERT STORM***

Good Evening Patriots!

Big Apple Honor Flight has two very exciting announcements to share with you! Big Apple Honor Flight: Mission #7 has been confirmed for Saturday, May 8th, 2027 when we will once again fly 75 of our city's heroes to Washington D.C. on an unforgettable one day trip to visit the memorials built in their honor.

It is a day of honor and celebration and a chance to give our veterans the "Welcome Home" that for so many is long overdue but so rightfully deserved.

This year, it will be made even that much more special. With the opening of the Desert Storm Memorial in Washington D.C., for the first time ever, we will be opening the flight to include veterans that served post-Vietnam through the Desert Storm era.

There are still plenty of spots available for both Veterans and Guardians to take part on Mission #7 so please take the time to complete the application on our website at https://www.bigapplehonorflight.com/participate or email us at [email protected].

Thank you and God Bless our Veterans!

Richmond County Chapter started off our DAR year with a very active schedule.

➡️We attended the United Staten Island Veterans Organization meeting where we were presented with a certificate of appreciation from Rolling Thunder for supporting their mission.

➡️We held our first chapter meeting where we welcomed back our members from the summer break and enthusiastically got to work on our initiatives. We also inducted a new member Carolyn.

➡️To Commemorate the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 chapter members and a prospective member participated in the Notre Dame Club and Our Lady of Pity Church’s Evening of Remembrance. A beautiful mass and reading of the names of all Staten Islanders lost on 9/11. We will never forget!

➡️We set up a table at the Conference House Association’ 250th Commemoration of the 1776 Peace Talks that took place at the Conference House. Our trivia wheel was a huge success! We promoted the DAR, Community Classroom Legacy grants, Junior Membership Classroom grants, American History Essay Contests. A great day was had by all.

➡️Our Registrar, Dr. Lynn Mastrangelo, and other members attended an Afternoon Tea at St. Andrews Church to support preservation efforts of the Mersereau Tomb located in the church cemetery. Lynn was the guest speaker and presented a program on the Mersereau Family.
