President Christine proudly represented the North Shore Rotary Club this week, joining a panel discussion with Dr. Holly Bonner and more than 250 young people participating in the Summer UAU Youth Employment Program (SYEP) at the College of Staten Island.

Sharing Rotary’s story, our commitment to Service Above Self, and the impact of community leadership, Christine encouraged the next generation to get involved, give back, and discover how one person can make a difference.

Thank you to UAU for the opportunity to connect with Staten Island’s future leaders. We hope the conversations inspire tomorrow’s changemakers!

What a week for the North Shore Rotary Club! While “Philanthropist” Liliana Surmanek is certainly no stranger to our Rotary family, as the daughter of Past President Dennis Surmanek who inspires our Club, we were honored to officially induct her as the first Future Rotarian as part of our new Future Rotarians Initiative.

This initiative is designed to recognize and encourage the next generation of leaders dedicated to making a difference through service.

Liliana is already leading by example, most recently sharing her vision with a neighboring Rotary club to create a Rota-Kids Club in her community!

The gavel has officially been passed along... Congratulations to Christine DeHart on her installation as President of the North Shore Rotary Club for the 2026–2027 Rotary Year!

Friends, family, and members gathered at On Your Mark to celebrate Christine as she begins her third term as Club President, alongside our Officers and Board of Directors. A big thank you to Chef Kim "Cooks" Leo for the delicious catering and to IlluminArt Productions for an unforgettable surprise flash mob that made the evening even more special!

Congratulations to Riley O’Hanlon, recipient of the North Shore Rotary Club’s 2025-2026 $10,000 Community Service Scholarship!

Through her leadership with O’Neill’s Angels and countless volunteer efforts throughout our community, she has transformed compassion into action and made a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.

This fall, Riley will attend Sacred Heart University to pursue a degree in Nursing, continuing her journey of caring for others and making an impact wherever she goes.

We are proud to recognize Riley’s outstanding dedication to community service and wish her continued success in all that lies ahead.

The North Shore Rotary Club is proud to support the incredible work being done at the Brian Halpin Pediatric Cancer Center at Northwell Health Staten Island University Hospital.

This week, we were honored to present a donation to help support children and families facing some of life’s toughest challenges. Through the generosity of our members, supporters, and community partners, we are able to invest in programs and services that make a meaningful difference right here in our community.

Thank you to the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff who provide compassionate care and hope to so many families every day. Together, we are helping create brighter tomorrows for Staten Island’s children.

Service Above Self in action! Rotarians from Staten Island’s 5 Rotary Clubs came together at Snug Harbor Cultural Center for our annual EPIC Day of Service — rolling up our sleeves to help beautify and strengthen one of Staten Island’s most treasured spaces.

From mulching pathways and tree rings, planting pollinators and sunflowers, revitalizing insect hotels, and improving the South Meadow and Farm areas, our volunteers continued the important work started two years ago to help create a more welcoming and connected environment for the entire community to enjoy.
