Happy Spring.

You may noticed the shrubs (ie Photinia 'Red Tip) in the neighborhood planters took a beating over this brutal winter, but fear not the plants are pushing new growth. In a short time they will be lush and beautiful again. Those not coming back will be replaced during our next big beautification event in June. Details to follow.

With rain holding off, today's beautification event at the Bay Street Wave median was a big success. The SGCA partnered with NYC Parks Staten Island Horticulture to spring clean the raised planters. And with safety protections in place, volunteers were able to put a long overdue fresh coat of 'Bay Blue' paint on the section nearest Slosson Terrace. Follow-up painting days to be planned.
A big thanks to all.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out yesterday morning to give our neighborhood an extra special cleaning. Stuyvesant Place, Hyatt, Wall and Richmond Terrace got some extra TLC! Curbs and Corners are a bit cleaner. Most local merchants and businesses were very appreciative of our efforts in supporting their daily cleaning.
Stay tuned for more upcoming community events.

The St. George community and members of the SGCA enjoyed the annual SI Borough Hall tree lighting hosted by the Borough President.
The tree is slightly larger than years pass and sits prominently on the landmark building's harbor facing front plaza.

Worth an evening stroll to take in the neighborhood holiday lights
