Luv on a Leash - a Project of Pride Center of Staten Island Luv on a Leash Therapy Dogs, places trained, registered therapy dog teams in meaningful programs throughout the Staten Island Community.

Luv on a Leash Therapy Dogs, a project of the Pride Center of Staten Island, is dedicated to placing trained, registered therapy dog teams in meaningful programs throughout the Staten Island Community. Our dogs and their handlers provide comfort and caring in a wide variety of settings including hospitals, extended care and residential facilities, schools and agencies where therapy dogs can be of benefit. Luv on a Leash Therapy Dogs is funded through the generosity of The Bruce Geary Foundation. At Luv on a Leash we guide you through the process of becoming a therapy dog team. We help train and prepare you for your registration credentials. Then we work with you to find a suitable match among our Staten Island facilities. After you have been placed, we continue to support, advocate, and educate so you can make the most of your volunteer experience.

Could your pet have the qualities of a great therapy animal? 💙

A love of meeting people is a wonderful place to start. Potential therapy animals should also feel comfortable in new environments, recover well from unexpected sights and sounds, and look to their human teammate for support.

Every animal is unique. Learning what therapy animal work involves can help you decide whether this volunteer journey could be safe, enjoyable, and rewarding for both of you.

Explore eight signs that your pet could be a great therapy animal and learn more about taking the next step with Pet Partners.

Therapy dogs care for the caregivers.

Did you know that spending just a few minutes with a therapy animal can help build resilience among healthcare workers during long, demanding shifts? Moments with Pet Partners therapy dogs like Gracie, pictured here during a visit at Rush University Medical Center, may be brief, but their impact can last long after the visit ends.

Thank you to the Baxter Foundation (Baxter International Inc.) for investing in our mission to support therapy animal teams and expand access to therapy animal visits in healthcare settings.
