Congratulations .albano1!
Last night Chris Paul etched his name in the Staten Island history books as he was awarded the prestigious Warren Jaques Award. This award is voted on by the Jaques committee and goes to the best female and male high school students on the island every year. This year’s top female award went to Olivia DiMonda from St. Joseph by the Sea. Out of 77 years of awards, 2 recipients have been Asian, Filipino to be exact. And they’re both home grown products from . Rommel Santos won in 1990 while a Senior at Moore Catholic and then went on to play Division II college ball at CW Post-LIU. He then finished college at The College of Staten Island before his successful career in the Philippines playing for Shell and Tanduay winning 2 PBA championships. Rommel was in attendance and bestowed the coveted white jacket to Chris along with a few other past Jaques award winners. CP’s speech included thanking his coaches, teammates, trainers, friends and family. CP will continue his athletic career with his commitment to play D2 basketball at The College of Staten Island. Congratulations again to CP and family, much love from your SIPAG Family! 💙🧡🏀🏆🥇
