Staten Island Hunger Task Force

Staten Island Hunger Task Force The SI Hunger Task Force is not a pantry. Instead, we connect community members to pantries and pantries to community and government resources.

Community

We collaborate with organizations and people who want to donate food and goods to pantries in need. We connect pantries in need of staff to community volunteers. Advocacy

We are committed to bringing awareness to the issue of hunger in our borough, encouraging elected officials and government organizations in their efforts to reduce hunger on Staten Island. Resources

We keep our pantr

ies up-to-date on new community and government initiatives. At monthly meetings, pantries share information and best practices and collaborate on projects. We invite city, state, and federal organizations to describe the support they can offer our pantries' guests. Meetings

The Staten Island Hunger Task Force meets the first Monday every month.

What an honor to welcome Susan Zimet Director of Food Policy for the NY State Office of Temporary Disability Assistance as our guest speaker at our Staten Island Hunger Task Force 2026 Legislative Breakfast

OTDA’s Director of Food Policy, Susan Zimet, was the guest speaker at Staten Island Hunger Task Force’s legislative breakfast, where she discussed advancing food security across Staten Island and New York State.

The successful event brought together New York State representatives to highlight Governor Kathy Hochul's proposed initiatives in the Fiscal Year 2027 Executive Budget, aimed at addressing affordability, hunger, and food insecurity.

Governor Hochul’s measures seek to protect vulnerable New Yorkers and promote greater affordability for working families and communities facing rising costs.

We are thankful for the Staten Island Hunger Task Force’s continued collaboration. We appreciate everyone in attendance, including the elected officials, their representatives, and community organizations.
