Aug 3 is a month away. Who is planning to meet at the school at 5pm? Who might meet for a drink or eats later? Just me(Cooper) and Ancona and Westfall?? It would e great to see some old, familiar faces.

Okay Class of 79 and friends, sorry for the delay, lots going on around me and we had to wait for St. Joes to confirm when we can visit. Karen Ancona(Moog) and I tried to set up something a little more reunion-y with refeshments and a bite to eat but the school was unfortunately unable to accommodate us this summer.
That being said, after talking with St Joe's and Griffs Place for availability, we are good to go for Sat August 3rd. From 5-7pm the school will be open for us to visit. 5 pm meet at the front of the school and promptly at 5:15 our own Karen Ancona(Moog) will lead a tour of the school. Lots of changes have happened in the past 45 years. It will be interesting Im sure.
Those who would like to, are asked to meet at Griffs Place after the tour for a bite to eat and/or a drink or two. Griffs place is on New Dorp Lane across from Miller Field. 7pm till whenever.
Dress code is neat and casual for the school and casual for Griffs Place.
As usual this will cost as little or as much as you choose to spend.
We'd love to see as many at the school as possible for old times sake and if we get a good amount going to Griffs, Dom said he'd take care of us. Even if you can't stay long, pop in for a few minutes and say hello. Please get the word out to those who don't fb or don't check in often. We will need to have an idea of how many are planning to show up. I already know a few folks who are coming in from out of state. So get busy. The reunions over the years have gotten a lot of us back in touch so reach out to your contacts. You can copy and paste this if you'd like.
I know that any date we pick means that some folks will be unable to attend and I do apologize to those affected. It is possible to do other gatherings if there's enough interest.

Also be aware that I will turn the 50th reunion planning over to the alumni assoc. so that we can have a more formal gathering at the school as we should. There will be a cost but Karen Ancona(Moog) says they do very nice gatherings for a very reasonable cost. These years are gonna fly by and our 50th will be here before you know it.
I (Maura) will also add Karen as an administrator on this page. This is our page. It doesn't really involve any work at all. If any one would like to be an admin. Let me know. I'd be happy to add you.

Hey my Sea 79 folks, Maura here, Your attention is requested for a moment. This is 45 years since we graduated with our 50th on the way. Time for a conversation. Nicky is coming up from FL and would like to know what's going on. I am thinking Aug 3rd if people want to get together. The reason the get togethers stopped was because people stopped coming to them. Sciacca, Westfall and I would sit for an hour or so, have a drink and then go home till the next year and after awhile it got old. We stopped. This page then became a memorial page, just to recognize those who we lost and its been a tough couple of years. We've lost a few especially Paul E who was a moderator on this page and one of those who benefited greatly from our get- togethers. He also prodded the rest of us to set the gatherings up. So it is in Paul's honor(and all the others weve lost) that we have this needed conversation. We have no problem picking a bar or venue to meet at, always casual, pay as you go, Come have a drink with us type of thing. BUT...people need to show up. Some of you may want something more, maybe even formal, maybe requiring monies be collected, a visit to the school included in some way. Karen Ancona has offered over the years to set something up but no matter how many times it was suggested, little interest was shown. 45 and 50 years are milestones and we will unfortunately continue to lose people one way or another so the time is now. If we want the casual reunions to continue or even something more, people need to step up and participate, at the very least have a public conversation about it. Just because we had a few very successful casual reunions which succeeded in bonding us again no way means that we(or the moderators of this page) "own" the planning of our reunions. If folks do want a formal type reunion, we need people to step up and volunteer to plan it, collect monies and other things that go along with a more formal reunion. I highly encourage this class to do

Part 2....something more for our 50th. So please comment on this post with any thoughts you might have. Your ideas are as welcome as anyone else's and we all need to hear what folks want to do.

Hey Sea '79 folks, I just received the sad news that Jennie Tumminello has passed away. She lived in Seaside Heights NJ and was a financial planner and wealth manager. She battled kidney and liver disease for many years and had recieved a liver transplant some years ago. I dont have any more details about her passing or any family members she may have left. If anyone has any other details please either post here or let me know. She was a kind soul and I'm sorry to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace.

It is with a very heavy heart that I post this. We have watched Beth and her daughter struggle over the last 10 years. It was a terrible journey they both endured. She once said to me that it was so hard for her to lose her daughter and then, knowing she would leave her only son behind was even harder still. Not many of us see our end coming and I do not envy that. But she handled the coming days with a quiet grace which showed the depth of her character. I hope there is peace in the end for her and her family.

View Beth Ann Portuesi's obituary, send flowers and sign the guestbook.
