๐ Celebrating a Landmark Victory for Staten Island's Recovery Community! ๐
Incredibly proud to share a pivotal moment impacting each one of us in Staten Island's recovery journey! Over the past year, in collaboration with the Tackling Youth Coalition of Staten Island and fellow behavioral health programs, we've relentlessly advocated for fair distribution of opioid settlement funds.
Our collective perseverance faced hurdles when Staten Island was initially overlooked for funding, despite grappling with some of the nation's most critical overdose rates. But our resilience has yielded tremendous results! Just yesterday, Mayor Adams made an inspiring decision to allocate a remarkable $12 million in opioid settlement funds exclusively to Staten Island. This momentous step significantly bolsters support for our vital opioid treatment programs.
I want to shine a light on the exceptional individuals and organizations who played pivotal roles in this victory. Luke Nasta, Jacqueline Filis, Adrienne Abbate, Ashley Owen, Jim Pistilli, and Assemblyman Sam Pirrozzolo led the charge in advocating for our community. Their tireless commitment and impassioned efforts were instrumental in securing these crucial funds.
Let's also recognize the remarkable dedication of the Tackling Youth Coalition of Staten Island and the numerous behavioral health programs that rallied together to make this accomplishment possible. Your unwavering support and advocacy have truly made a difference!
This achievement underscores the power of collective action and community unity. It showcases our steadfast dedication to championing the needs of Staten Island's recovery community.
