Donald Scott Conniff "Scotty" was born and raised on Staten Island. He followed in his father's footsteps by joining the NYPD. He was a mentor to many of the officers he worked with and was always the first to help if there was a family in need. The NYPD and FDNY were both very close to Scotty's heart. On January 1, 1998, while operating as a sergeant with the anti-crime unit of the 9th precinct,
Scotty was involved in a motor vehicle accident which left him with a traumatic brain injury. He succumbed to his injuries on December 12, 2015. Donald Scott Conniff Foundation was created by Scotty's family and friends as a way to honor his memory. The mission of the foundation is to help NYPD and FDNY families struck by tragedy. Each year the foundation holds a golf outing with all proceeds supporting these families. This event is also a way to gather Scotty's family and friends together to share their memories of Scotty.
