Our crews have now cleared more than 500 downed trees from the trail this season! 🪚🌲

Before our seasonal Trail Crew even got started, TRTA volunteer crew leaders were already out there clearing over 250 trees from the TRT. Now, our paid crew has hit the trail and helped push that number past 500, keeping momentum going across the TRT.

Every tree cleared means better access for hikers, bikers, and equestrians, and every mile maintained is possible because of the people who show up to care for this trail.

A huge thank you to our volunteer crew leaders, Trail Crew, and everyone putting in the hard work behind the scenes to keep the TRT open and passable this season. If you see them out there, give them a big thank you and plenty of room to work!

🐾 Help protect Tahoe’s wildlife at Spooner Summit! 🐾

Join the Tahoe Rim Trail Association & on Saturday, June 20 from 10 AM–3 PM for a free, hands-on Wildlife Tracking Workshop at Spooner Summit South Trailhead.

This citizen science training will teach volunteers the basics of wildlife tracking, print identification, and data collection to support the development of a dedicated wildlife and human crossing on US Highway 50 at Spooner Summit. The data collected by volunteers will help determine the safest and most effective location for the crossing.

Come learn new skills, give back to the Tahoe Basin, and be part of the solution to keep wildlife moving safely.

👷‍♀️ It’s almost boardwalk time on the TRT again! 👷‍♂️

Starting Wednesday, July 8 at 9 am, join us at Tahoe Meadows as we work to complete the Tahoe Meadows Boardwalk project. Volunteer workdays will continue every Wednesday and Thursday in July beginning July 15.

Last year, volunteers helped replace more than 800 feet of boardwalk. This year, we’re finishing the final 250 feet and bringing this major trail project across the finish line.

Thank you to KOLO Josh Little & KOLO 8 News Now for helping shine a light on our Youth Backcountry Camps and the Confidence Starts Here campaign.

For many campers, these four days on the Tahoe Rim Trail are more than their first backpacking trip. They are a chance to step away from screens, build confidence, learn new skills, make friends, and discover what they are capable of in the backcountry.

This year, shifting funding priorities have left us with a significant gap to fill, and we need our community’s help to keep these life-changing experiences accessible for youth in the region.

Now through June 30, every gift to Youth Backcountry Camps through the Confidence Starts Here campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar. Help us close the gap and give more young people the chance to build confidence on the trail.
