Additionally, if State College has 10 more days with measurable rain this month, it will tie the record for most rainy days in any consecutive 3-month period (53 days). When did this occur? This year! 53 days with measurable rain occurred between Apr 1 and Jun 30 (and in 2003).

Has it been wet in central PA? Absolutely. In fact, year-to-date, State College has now tied for the most days with measurable rainfall (tie-1956). If at least 9 more days have measurable rainfall this month, it will be tied for the wettest summer on record, as well.

This weekend will be very warm, but nowhere near as warm as the all-time record high for Pennsylvania in April- 98°. The record was set in Punxsutawney in 1915 and later tied in Norristown in 1976.

With parts of PA seeing some light snow accumulations early in the week, past records show that major snowfall events are rare but still can happen in April. In 1928, 17.3" fell in State College in just 24 hours on April 28!

Snow in April? State College has measured 5.6 inches of snowfall for the first 10 days of April. This is the highest snowfall total for the first ten days of the month in State College since 1982!
