The Rivet the adult education branch of Discovery Space. Makerspace designed for adults & youth 14+

The Rivet offers skill-based classes where you can learn equipment such as how to use a 3D printer, miter saw, drill press, pottery wheel or embroidery machine. The Rivet also offers project-based classes where you can make your own laser cut map, naturally imprinted plates, stackable rings, and more. If you already have a hobby or skill, you can teach a class or use our equipment for your own projects. If you want to learn with your friends, you can schedule a class specially for your group.

Get familiar with The Rivet, our makerspace, safety practices, shared workspaces, and how everything works.

2️⃣ GET YOUR CLEARANCES
Take the hands-on Clearance Classes for the tools and equipment you want to use independently.

3️⃣ MAKE, LEARN & KEEP GOING
Use Open Workshop Hours to work on your own, take more classes to build your skills, and keep making!

✨ Maker Orientation is FREE and required once for all new makers. Once you complete it, you can enroll in the Clearance Classes you need.

🔧 Before you throw it away, bring it to the Repair Café!

Have something broken, worn out, or in need of a little TLC? The Changemaker Collective () is hosting a Pop-Up Repair Café at The Rivet on September 18!

Bring your small household items, clothing, electronics, toys, tools, and other repairable items and work alongside volunteer fixers to see if they can be given a second life. You’ll have the chance to learn basic repair skills, ask questions, and keep useful things out of the landfill. ♻️

Repairs aren’t guaranteed, but the volunteer fixers will do their best to diagnose the problem and help you figure out what’s possible.

Looking to connect with fellow makers, share ideas, and get inspired? Our free meetups are the perfect way to check out our creative community! These gatherings are all about co-working on personal projects, swapping tips & tricks, and meeting new maker friends in a relaxed setting.

A meet-up for all fiber artists, from knitting & crochet to tufting, weaving, and embroidery. Work alongside others, troubleshoot techniques, and stay accountable to your projects. (No supplies included, but donated yarn is sometimes available!)

A meet-up for our clay crew—bring your solo projects and nerd out over hand-building techniques like slab work, coil building, sculpture, and more! (Pottery clearance required.)

Build Your Own Combat Robot at The Rivet! 💥

This is your chance to design, build, and then DESTROY in the arena. 🛠️ Presented in partnership with Centre STEM powering Centre County 4-H Robotics, this 90-min class will get you competition-ready with your very own Plastic Ant-class combat robot.

You'll automatically be entered to compete at Maker Faire Happy Valley on October 3 at Axemann Brewery.

$250 fee per team/robot includes all materials, tools, and instruction
