And now, just 6 years later, Officer 1, the officer who murdered Osaze, is trying to get the job as SCPD Police Chief.

On this day, 6 years ago at approximately 2:03 p.m. Osaze Osagie's young life was taken by an State College police officer sent to safely transport him during a mental health crisis. Many errors were made by the State College police before and during that call and they led to the murder of a man who was in need. There has never been acknowledgement of these mistakes and we cannot be foolish enough to believe enough has changed to prevent it from happening again. If we allow ourselves to sink back into the comforting arms of complacency, we have ourselves to blame the next time a life is taken. It is on each of us to continue to push for transparency from those in power and to never normalize what occurred on this day.

Do not forget. In just 5 days, it will be 6 years since Osaze Osagie was murdered, shot 3 times in the back, by the State College Police. He was experiencing a mental health crisis and instead of providing him help, they took his life. There has been and clearly will be no justice and the community has all but forgotten what happened.
