Break the cycle.
If you didn’t come from a healthy family, let a healthy family come from you.

Research confirms that trauma can be passed down—but so can resilience, healing, and healthy relationships. Generational patterns can end with you and new legacies can begin with you.

This family represents broken cycles and beginning of new patterns of generational blessing.
I’m amazed at God’s power.
It’s possible.

If you didn’t come from legacy, let legacy come from you.

Ephesians 5:21 - Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

The “life hack” is essentially this: mutual submission under the reverence of Christ creates relational stability where power struggles normally take over.

The 2nd part - the “fear of God” part matters—it means submission isn’t driven by insecurity, trauma or control, but by alignment with God’s order.

I love the fact that Paul builds a mutual posture of humility inside a structured teaching on…
Love
Stewardship
Leadership &
Responsibility

This is heaven’s reset button
***Reminder Alert***
Your feelings are important, but heaven doesn’t kingdom rights to them.

Research consistently shows that children benefit when they observe healthy affection and respect between their parents or caregivers. Children often develop their understanding of love, conflict resolution, communication, and commitment by observing their parents’ interactions. In other words they’re watching you.
No Pressure

I recall learning about Social Learning Theory in graduate school. Your children learn behaviors and relationship patterns by watching significant adults in their lives.

Good News—-
It’s not too late to begin.
Nothing is stopping you.

We stepped into Christian Life in Connecticut with Pastor Guy & Tana Zinnanti Miller and loved seeing one of their value statements.

One of the greatest ways a church can fulfill its mission is by strengthening families. Strong families produce strong disciples, strong leaders, and a strong church.

The data speaks of people thriving in healthy family relationships eventually impacts the community.

Churches - Let’s Go
Develop systems that celebrate strong marriages and families.

Marriage Coaching
Back to Connecticut 🍕
Did you know that CT is the pizza capital of the United States?

Yeah - I mean, I’m from NY and I like Frank Pepe’s, but does anyone know what’s that about?

We believe in Restoration.

It’s not just “getting back to normal.” It’s about God rebuilding something stronger than what existed before—where broken trust, strained communication, or emotional distance becomes the very place deeper intimacy is formed.

Don’t be discouraged - Don’t underestimate it because it’s slow. Over time it becomes strong enough to carry what used to break you. It ALWAYS points to rebuilding. 🔥 Scripture always points to REBUILDING. 🔥

Let’s begin in the heart -
it’s the posture of the heart:
less pride,
more ownership;
less reaction,
more response;
less blame,
more building.

Ask God to make your heart tender again. I know scary prayer, but He’ll do it.

Ecclesiastes 1:9
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

Human nature has not changed. The challenges couples face today may have different technology, different terminology, and different circumstances, but the underlying issues are the same issues couples have wrestled with for thousands of years:

Take a peek ⬇️
⟢ Communication breakdowns
⟢ Unmet expectations
⟢ Pride and stubbornness
⟢ Financial stress
⟢ Trust issues
⟢ Fear and insecurity
⟢ Busyness and neglect
⟢ Differences in priorities
Anything else to add?

Keep in mind…social media arguments are new, but the media of the heart isn’t.

If there is “nothing new under the sun,” then we are not facing problems that are beyond God’s wisdom. The Scriptures have addressed the human heart from the beginning.

God’s solutions—love, forgiveness, humility, patience, sacrifice, grace, and commitment—are as effective today as they were generations ago.

Check out this verse…
A principle that has worked for 1,000’s of years.

Ecclesiastes 4:9,12
Two are better than one… Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

The same book that acknowledges recurring struggles, also points to the strength that comes when two people stay connected to each other and to God. Marriage challenges may not be new, but neither is God’s faithfulness.

Stay Connected with God & to each other.

OUCH Trigger Alert 😣
We often ask this question…

What is one attitude, habit, or reaction YOU are personally willing to change to strengthen your marriage?

Folks don’t like this question.
One major reason for folks being resistant to personal ownership is self-protection.

Let’s Get This….
Once I enter self-protect mode, my primary goal is no longer connection or understanding.
My primary goal becomes self-preservation. I go from Synergy thinking to Survival thinking. It’s a mechanism of the brain that operates on safety. I’m not feeling safe.

If I admit “this is on me,” I also have to face the possibility that I’ve contributed to pain, tension, or distance. It’s easier to shift blame outward than to sit in that discomfort. Remember I’m in self-preservation mode.

Jesus resisted all self preservation mode and died for the church, while we were yet sinners. This is God’s M.O for NT discipleship community - Submission (read Ephesians 5).

Pic of us - Oh yeah
We had the ability of being stubborn, mad and experts at debates & spats. We were “good” at being bad.

Then we realized we are on the same team - 1 Flesh.
