Discovery Space of Central Pennsylvania Science Center Discovery Space is a growing science center and makerspace based in State College.

Our science center offers interactive STEM exhibits and hands-on programs in a fun learning environment. Our makerspace, The Rivet, helps our community build the skills to make or fix just about anything. Continually seeking to spark curiosity and creativity, we serve everyone from toddlers to seniors. Discovery Space of Central Pennsylvania is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

🌟 What could your child build, explore, and discover over the next few years?

Professional Pathways at Discovery Space is a multi-year STEM program designed to grow with young people ages 8–18. Along the way, participants earn badges, build new skills, tackle challenges, and learn through hands-on experiences.

Join us for a FREE Professional Pathways Info Session to learn about the program levels, what participants can expect throughout the year, and opportunities for projects, outreach, service, mentorship, and leadership.

This year, participants can explore two pathways:

🐠 Marine Life — Dive into marine biology, aquarium systems, animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and science communication.

⚙️ Technology & Design — Explore engineering, prototyping, 3D design, circuitry, graphic design, 3D printing, laser engraving, and more.

Calling all LEGO-loving STEM explorers in grades 2–4!

This fall, Discovery Space is hosting a FIRST LEGO League Explore team focused on biodiversity, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving.

Students will explore local ecosystems, investigate environmental challenges, and use LEGO Education SPIKE kits to design and program their own solutions. The program wraps up with a special family event to showcase their projects!

Last week, our shop was full of creativity, teamwork, and confidence-building during our Glow camp! 🔨✨

Designed for girls and nonbinary youth, this camp gave campers the chance to learn real woodworking and fabrication skills while collaborating on a meaningful build project. As they worked together to create an automaton, they strengthened their problem-solving, leadership, and hands-on making skills every step of the way. We loved watching their ideas—and their confidence—take shape! 💙
