On behalf of the Kevin Dare Benefit Committee, a big "THANK YOU" to everyone who contributed and/or participated in the 10th Annual Kevin Dare Golf Tournament. Together with your generosity, the Kevin Dare Foundation raised $93,449 dollars in 2015, and we have reached a total of over $1.3MM raised since February 2002. It has been a long, emotional journey in the thirteen years since Kevin left this Earth. We are immensely proud of the legacy we have built with our friends and family in establishing the Foundation in Kevin’s name. Additionally, we are proud of what the Foundation achieved the last thirteen years: We developed and distributed the first pole vault specific helmets to pole vaulters, athletes and children across the country, we educated high school pole vaulters on helmet safety, we constructed the first “soft box” and provided financial support to as many as eight freshman athletes on an annual basis. So it is with mixed emotions and after much heartfelt reflection, we realize it is time for Kevin’s legacy to stand on its own. We have decided to terminate all fund raising efforts related to the Foundation effective immediately. Please know that this decision was not one that was taken lightly or decided upon without fully reviewing all options. Scholarships to our six current students will continue, as promised, for the 2015-2016 academic year provided all scholarship agreement requirements are met. Those six students may reapply annually for scholarship in their remaining undergraduate years, but we will not offer any new scholarships to new applicants.The success of The Kevin Dare Foundation could not have happened without our supporters. From the Dare family and the Foundation committee, we thank you for your support and for helping to keep Kevin’s memory alive.
