A clean greenhouse helps keep everything growing and thriving!

Keeping our greenhouse tidy is part of our regular routine, and Jake plays an important role in making it happen. From sweeping the floors and wiping down windowsills to cleaning the media and float beds, he helps keep our growing space clean, organized, and ready for the next day of work.

Did you know you can grow your own peanuts?!

Peanuts are a fun and fascinating plant to grow! Unlike many other crops, peanuts develop underground. Their bright yellow flowers bloom above the soil, and after pollination, the flower stems grow downward, pushing the developing peanuts into the ground. That’s where the magic happens!

From planting to harvesting, growing peanuts is a great way to learn about how plants grow and where our food comes from.

Who knew something so delicious started growing underground?

Farm stand responsibilities go beyond stocking the shelves!

Hunter has been helping us take inventory at the farm stand, keeping track of what products we have available and what needs to be restocked.

Through tasks like these, our students are building valuable job skills, practicing organization, attention to detail, and learning the importance of keeping a business running smoothly.

We love seeing our students take on new responsibilities and gain hands-on work experience!

Did you know sweet potatoes need a little rest after harvesting before they're ready to eat?

Harvesting sweet potatoes is only the beginning! Unlike many vegetables, sweet potatoes need a curing period after they are dug out of the ground.

During curing, sweet potatoes are kept in warm, humid conditions for about 1–2 weeks. This process helps heal small cuts and scratches, allows their natural sugars to develop, and improves their flavor and texture.

So, while we may be excited to enjoy our harvest right away, a little patience makes those sweet potatoes even sweeter!

Sweet Potato Harvest!

Jake has been helping us harvest sweet potatoes out in the garden! From digging through the soil to uncovering our sweet potatoes, he’s getting hands-on experience and helping us bring in the rewards of our hard work.

You never know what you’ll find hiding beneath the soil!
