World No To***co Day is May 31. Most people know to***co damages lungs. Fewer people know how fast ni****ne wrecks the heart. Whether it comes from a cigarette, an electronic v**e, or a synthetic pouch, ni****ne accelerates heart disease. Choose your health!

📸 From awkward prom poses to today’s prevention professionals… some things change, but keeping youth safe never goes out of style. 💃🕺
Prom season is meant to be memorable for the right reasons, not because of alcohol-related injuries, crashes, or unsafe situations.
🚫 In Pennsylvania, it is illegal to provide alcohol to anyone under 21, including at after-parties, homes, hotels, or “supervised” gatherings.
Here are a few ways parents, caregivers, and communities can help prevent underage drinking during prom season:
✨ Set clear expectations before the night begins
✨ Know the plans, locations, and who will be present
✨ Offer a safe ride home, no questions asked
✨ Encourage alcohol-free after-prom activities
✨ Talk openly about safety, peer pressure, and decision-making
✨ Don’t assume “everyone is drinking.” Many students choose not to.
Prom memories should last longer than poor decisions. Let’s work together to create celebrations that are safe, fun, and unforgettable for all the right reasons. 💙

During Prevention Week, CPA had the opportunity to meet with Nate Gerace, Regional Director for Northeastern PA for U.S. Senator Dave McCormick’s office, to talk about the importance of prevention funding.

Together, we discussed what prevention looks like in real communities and why sustained investment matters for families, schools, coalitions, and local organizations working every day to support youth and reduce substance misuse before it starts.

Prevention work often happens quietly: Strong relationships. Safe spaces. Trusted adults. Youth leadership. Community support systems.

These investments matter, and they save lives.

Thank you to Nate for taking the time to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and engage in an important conversation about strengthening communities across the Commonwealth.
