🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride from AAUW State College!

This Saturday, June 13, our community comes together for State College Pride — and we'll be celebrating right alongside you.

At AAUW, our mission is to advance equity for women and girls — and we believe equity isn't truly equity until it includes everyone. As AAUW's national position puts it, "No one should be denied the full range of civil rights and liberties due to their sexual orientation or gender identity." The work for gender justice is inseparable from the dignity, safety, and full inclusion of our LGBTQ+ friends, family, and neighbors, and we're proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community in State College and beyond.

Join in:
📍 Parade — 10 a.m., starting near State College Area High School and marching through downtown
🎉 Festival — noon to 4 p.m. at Sidney Friedman Park (S. Fraser St.)

Hosted by Centre LGBT+, the day features live music, drag performances, a family zone with face painting and puppets, food trucks, a Pride Fashion Walk, and local vendors.

Bring your friends, your family, and your rainbow — Happy Pride! 🌈

Because of our incredible volunteers, donors, shoppers, sponsors, and community supporters, the 2026 AAUW State College Used Book Sale netted more than $150,000 to support education, scholarships, grants, and community programs.

Every donated book, every volunteer hour, and every purchase helped make this success possible.

We can't wait to see you next year (May 15-18, 2027)!

🎓 Congratulations to our 2026 scholarship recipients!

AAUW State College is proud to support four remarkable women as they pursue their education and their goals:

🌟 Natasha Marcos — Suzanne McCrae Kerlin Scholarship. A mother of five balancing family, work, and academics while pursuing a Criminal Justice degree at Strayer University, with a goal of working with teens at risk.

🌟 Lindsay Nolte — Evelyn Chostner Marboe Scholarship. Pursuing a B.S. in Health Policy & Administration at Penn State World Campus while raising her two daughters and showing them they can chase their dreams.

🌟 Samantha Snyder — Simmons-Jansma Project Renew Grant. Studying Psychology at Walden University and working toward a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling to support people in recovery, those suffering loss, and those affected by natural disasters.

🌟 Estefania Uribe Suaza — Louise Tukey State College Branch Scholarship. A first-generation college student pursuing a BSN in Nursing at Penn State, eager to make a difference in the lives of those she helps.

These scholarships support women adult learners in Centre County — and they're made possible by our annual Used Book Sale and partnership with the Centre Foundation. 💚

Behind the success of our used book sale is an incredible team of volunteers working year-round to make the magic happen. 📚✨

Yesterday, members of the AAUW State College Used Book Sale leadership team gathered for lunch to celebrate another successful sale, reflect on this year’s event, and start planning for next year! From our chairs and leadership committee to workshop leads, treasurer, and so many dedicated volunteers, this sale is truly powered by community.

We’re so grateful for everyone who gives their time, talent, and energy to make the sale possible year after year. Here’s to 64 years of book-loving tradition — and to making next year even better!
