Congratulations to Rediscover State College and the Highlands Civic Association on a wonderful neighborhood gathering at East Fairmount Park!

With support from a fund at Centre Foundation, neighbors old and new came together for a summer barbecue, great food, Italian ice, a water balloon toss, and a chance to connect and enjoy their neighborhood park.

We’re proud to support efforts that bring people together and help strengthen connections across our community. Congratulations to Rediscover State College and everyone who helped make the evening such a success!

What did we learn from more than 2,000 voices across the PA Wilds? People deeply value local news, and they want more of it. 📰

Yesterday, we brought together community and journalism leaders to talk about the future of local news across our region.

Joy Vincent-Killian, Press Forward PA Wilds Director at Centre Foundation, led the conversation, sharing what she learned from communities across the region through a year of listening and research. She was joined by David Lieb, Centre Foundation; Marisa Kwiatkowski, Knight Foundation; Caroline Merenda, Press Forward; and Fiona Morgan, Branchhead Consulting.

Our Board Chair, Erin Meitzler, stopped by today to deliver a special gift to the Centre Foundation staff on behalf of the Foundation’s Board in honor of Nonprofit Day!

We are so grateful for their thoughtfulness and generosity, and for thinking of our staff on this special day.

And the Board is giving even more in honor of Nonprofit Day. Board members are making gifts to the Fund for Centre County, which are being matched this year dollar for dollar in support of human services. Our goal is to reach $450,000 to support nonprofits on the front lines of addressing critical human services needs across Centre County.

Thank you to our amazing Board for your generosity and support. And to all of the incredible nonprofits across our community who work tirelessly to help our communities thrive, thank you for all that you do! 💚

Thank you to our Giving Circle members and Centre Foundation Board members who joined us for our annual Giving Circle Impact Celebration and helped celebrate $27,500 in collective giving to three local nonprofits.

This year’s grantees have put those dollars to work to expand emergency response capacity, provide beds for children in need, and improve access to diagnostic care for uninsured patients.

And there’s even more to celebrate: the Giving Circle turns 20 this year! For two decades, members have come together to make a bigger impact than any one person could make alone.

Jobs like this are hard to find. Good Day Café built 34 of them.

In 2017, a transformative $100,000 Centre Inspires grant from Centre Foundation helped Strawberry Fields open a coffee shop offering meaningful, paid employment to adults with disabilities — and it's been voted the area's best five years running.

That's what Centre Inspires funds: an idea big enough to give Centre County something it didn't have before — a place, a program, a possibility. In honor of our 45th anniversary, we'll be awarding $100,000 to another amazing nonprofit project this year. Stay tuned — the 2026 recipient will be announced this fall!

Gianna Jasseh, a 2026 recipient of the Barbara and Jack Erickson Scholarship held at Centre Foundation, is one example of how the generosity of our scholarship donors is opening doors, easing financial burdens, and creating opportunities through education.

Their support helps students like Gianna pursue their passions today while preparing them to make a difference in the communities of tomorrow.
