On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Whiskey Jam (the hottest jam band in Philly and down the shore) will perform live in Margate, NJ, to benefit Penn State Hillel and support Jewish students at Penn State. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Hillel is there for students at all stages of life – Mia ‘26 first joined Hillel for a Shabbat service and dinner this year. The moment she walked into the Gutterman Family Center, she was greeted by an energy that felt less like a formal service and more like a massive family living room. There were so many bright smiles gathered to kick off the weekend and light candles together. At services, she joined others in a low-pressure environment filled with singing and reflection, and at dinner, she shared the kind of easy laughter that usually takes years to build over challah, grape juice, and a delicious meal. At Hillel, Mia found a sense of belonging and a warm community.

We’re so proud of Mia and our other seniors as they graduate this weekend! Before tomorrow night, please make experiences like hers possible for other students for years to come. Penn State Hillel is a place where connections, friendships, and even love stories begin. For Marjorie and Sean Miller, their story starts with a Hillel event and a business card. In 2008, after taking a job with a newspaper in Lewistown, PA, Marjorie reached out to Hillel, hoping to connect with other Jews in the area. At a Hillel “TAG” Night (for “twenty-something-and-grad-students”), Marjorie sat next to Sean, a graduate student at the time. They made friendly conversation, and then Sean gave her his business card and asked her to stop by his tailgate sometime. That first encounter made a significant impression on both of them; Sean was sure he was going to marry Marjorie, and she felt a sense of home being around him. Now, Marjorie and Sean are married with a 12-year-old daughter named Adele.

For Cam ‘29, Hillel’s community feels like a family, where students and staff members always show up for one another. As a freshman settling into campus life, he especially appreciated Rabbi Rob’s efforts to get to know him and welcome him, as well as coffee chats with Shir, who made his transition to college easier. Cam has found his home on campus as he joins Hillel for Shabbat services every Friday night and attends events like Shuk and Cook, Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF) classes, and so much more while surrounded by friends.
