We engage, empower and employ people of all abilities in farm to table culinary activities; preparing delicious food while promoting a vibrant, more inclusive and less wasteful local food system and community. Focusing on under-served community members, Taproot is inclusive of young adults with autism and intellectual disabilities, food entrepreneurs, and org

anizations that support volunteer preparation of healthful food to benefit others. Taproot Kitchen is housed at its parent organization, the Meeting House on Atherton. This historic church building is located in the heart of downtown State College, PA. In conjunction with this effort, Taproot grows veggies and fruits at the Mazza Community Garden located just one block away. Our network of community partners intersects around a community kitchen, garden and meeting space. Here our members are seen not as clients but as friends, neighbors, and colleagues.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's weekend!

We were fortunate enough to cater a couple of amazing local events this past week and are excited about our community engagement. Due to this, we are unable to attend market this week, but stay tuned for updates and future events.

We are also looking for volunteers who would love to be part of our kitchen community and overall mission. If anyone is interested, please reach out to [email protected] so we can share more details.

Happy New Year from all of us at Taproot Kitchen!

As we have stepped into January 2026, we’re excited to reconnect with our community and share that we’re back out and active at several familiar spots around Centre County.

Starting out you can find us at:
Centre Markets Store (Check hours centremarkets.com)
Boalsburg Farmers Market (101 Boal Ave, Boalsburg, PA 16827) on Tuesdays 2-6 PM
Entrance A of Nittany Mall in our main kitchen M/T/TH/FR 9-4pm

Whether you’re restocking your freezer, looking for nourishing meals after the holidays, or just stopping by to say hello, we’d love to see you. Being present at these markets means more opportunities for us to connect face-to-face, hear what you’re enjoying, and continue building a food system rooted in care, access, and local ingredients.

January is a season of fresh starts, and for us that means getting back into a steady rhythm of cooking, serving, and showing up for our customers. Your continued support allows Taproot Kitchen to keep doing what we do best: preparing thoughtfully made food that supports our sustainable and inclusive community and many local producers.
