WOW — What an unbelievable Opening Day

Celebration for Starr Athletic Association! ⚾🎉

Today exceeded every expectation, and we are incredibly grateful for the amazing turnout and support shown by our community.

A special THANK YOU goes to our 2026 Complex Sponsor, Big Air, and especially owner Jakeh Cooper, for believing in Starr Athletic Association and helping make this day truly special.

Jakeh and the Big Air team showed up in a huge way—bringing inflatables, games, free merch, and free jump passes for our players and families. When asked why he chose to sponsor a local sports league like Starr, Jakeh kept it simple:
“I believe in giving back to the communities that support my businesses.”

That speaks volumes about the kind of person and business leader he is.

Jakeh took a chance on us, and we will be forever grateful for his support, generosity, and commitment to our community. Be sure to support their locations in Anderson, Laurens, and soon Greenwood!

🥎 Big things happening for Starr Softball! 🥎

We’re proud to have Kalyna McGee leading one of our girls teams this season — and if you know her, you know that means this group is going to be in great hands.

Kalyna brings a level of leadership, structure, and integrity that you simply can’t teach. After years of serving our community in law enforcement, she understands responsibility, accountability, and how to build confidence in young people. She’s steady, dependable, and the kind of role model parents feel good about their daughters being around.

This won’t just be a “show up and play” team — it will be organized, positive, encouraging, and focused on helping every girl improve and believe in herself. If your daughter is even thinking about softball, this is a great opportunity to be part of a strong team with strong leadership.

We want to follow up on the recent post regarding a vehicle performing burnouts in the parking area at the Starr Athletic Association complex.

Our reason for sharing the video was not to shame anyone, but to protect our facilities, our athletes, and our community. The complex is used by young players and families, and activity like this creates real safety risks. Damage to property, potential injuries, and liability exposure are serious concerns for a nonprofit organization like ours.

If something were to go wrong, Starr Athletic Association could face costly repairs, insurance claims, or legal responsibility — all of which directly impact our ability to provide programs for kids.

We have since identified the vehicle involved. Consider this your notice that we are aware of who you are. We are choosing to handle this responsibly and give you the opportunity to move forward without further action. However, if this behavior happens again on our property, we will take the necessary steps to protect our organization, including involving law enforcement and pursuing any applicable damages.

Most people can understand the appeal of a good burnout — but someone else’s private property, especially a youth sports complex, is not the place for it.

We appreciate the community’s help and support in keeping our fields and facilities safe for the kids and families who rely on them.

Starr Athletic Association – Community Alert

This morning, a vehicle was recorded spinning tires and doing donuts in the parking lot at our sports complex. This behavior damages the property and puts our facilities at risk.

The car on camera appears to be a dark-colored older model Mustang. There was also a white vehicle, believed to be a Nissan, involved.

If you recognize either of these vehicles or have any information, please send us a private message on this page. All information will be kept confidential.

We work hard to maintain these fields and facilities for the kids and families in our community, and we appreciate everyone’s help in protecting them.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, all Starr Athletic Association games scheduled for Monday the 26th and Tuesday the 27th are postponed.
We are currently working on make-up dates and will share that information as soon as it is finalized.
