The Woman’s Club of Starkville enjoyed having Mary Holland Nicholas, 2nd Alternate in the Distinguished Young Women of Mississippi for 2026, as our speaker. It was interesting to learn all they went through in the competition.

The Woman’s Club of Starkville welcomed MSU Head Soccer Coach Kevin O’Obrien to their March 3rd meeting at the First Baptist Church. Coach O’Brien shared about his background, his decision to come to MSU, and the status and challenges facing the soccer team. He also graciously answered questions from club members. Needless to say, all the members are thrilled with this hire!

We were fortunate to have Carl Zitta, director of IT for Oktibbeha County, as our speaker at the February 10, 2026 meeting of the Woman's Club of Starkville.

Patti Little introduced our speaker, Mr. Carl Zitta. Mr. Zitta is the director of IT (Information Technology) for Oktibbeha County. She informed us that he mapped 22 states by driving all the roads and mapping houses, street signs, and roads into the measuring system for addressing. This mapping provides a digital footprint that can be used to assess damage after events like Hurricane Katrina. His presentation centered around AI (Artificial Intelligence).

The Woman's Club of Starkville held its January meeting with a patriotic kickoff for America's 250th birthday. Hostesses Anna Hood, Debbie Fox, Melanie Mitchell, Missy Staggers, Jan Black and Amy Crawford had beautiful red, white & blue decorations and delicious food, and everyone enjoyed hearing General Andrew Rendon speak about the Sonny Montgomery Center for America's Veterans, located on the campus of Mississippi State University.
