04/12/2026

At 2:24 PM, Middleton-Star Firefighters were dispatched to a reported garage fire on Manchester Court in Middleton. Engine 52, already in the area returning from a previous call, arrived on scene within approximately three and a half minutes of dispatch.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke conditions and an active fire in the garage. Firefighters worked to contain the fire to the garage, preventing further spread. However, smoke damage was reported in other areas of the home.

The affected family is receiving immediate assistance from the Middleton-Star Firefighters Burnout Fund. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Responding units included: Engine 52, Engine 13, Engine 11, Engine 53, Ladder 51, Truck 11, Battalion 51, Battalion 2, Chief 503, Medic 51, and Middleton Police Department.

In a unanimous vote of support Tuesday evening, the Coeur d’Alene City Council selected Jake Bieker as the new fire chief.

Update: Roadway is projected to reopen at approximately 2:45pm.

Star Rd between McMillan and Ustick is currently closed due to injury crash with power lines down. Please avoid the area as crews continue to work the scene.

Today at 7:08am, Middleton-Star firefighters responded to a reported head-on collision at the intersection of Star Rd and Chinden Blvd. Crews arrived to find two vehicles with heavy damage, with one occupant requiring extrication from one of the involved vehicles. The occupant was extricated and transported to an area hospital by Ada County Paramedics.

Units on scene: Ladder 51, Engine 38, Battalion 51, Medic 39, Medic 38, and multiple law enforcement units. Other units were cleared prior to arrival.

On Sunday, March 8th, eight Middleton-Star firefighters took on the 2026 Seattle Stair Climb. Through the team's fundraising over $9,500 was raised for blood cancer research!

At 4:55 PM, Middleton-Star firefighters responded to a head-on motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 16 and Beacon Light Road.

Crews worked to cut apart one vehicle and extricate one occupant.

Units: Middleton-Star Ladder 51, Eagle Fire Engine 43, Ada county paramedics Medic 38, and Ada county sheriff's office worked the duration of the incident.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a local Girl Scout troop to Station 51 as they worked toward earning some of their badges. The girls had the opportunity to tour the station, learn about our apparatus and gear, and ask plenty of great questions. Visits like these are always a highlight for our crews and a great way to connect with the community we’re proud to serve.

Last week, Middleton-Star firefighters spent four days putting real fire to work during live fire training at an acquired structure in Middleton.

Crews trained in heavy heat and zero-visibility conditions, practicing searches and fire attack in environments that reached over 1,000 degrees. This type of training is as close to the real thing as it gets and builds the skills needed when lives and property are on the line.

Hundreds of firefighter training hours were logged, along with many more hours of preparation and hard work by the Training Division and instructors to make these evolutions happen safely.
