To our Back Creek Ruritan Community, it is with heavy hearts that we share the transition to a greater place of our beloved cash party emcee David Owings.
If you ever have attended one of our cash parties you know that David was one of a kind. Through his humor, quick wit, and love for this community we will remember all he has done over the years for our club. We have no doubt that he is already sitting around a card table tonight telling stories with our founding members that preceeded him.
Please keep his family in your prayers during this time. 🙏🏼💛

David Andrew Owings, 78 of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Warren Memorial Hospital. Dave was born in 1947 in Wi******er and grew up in Middletown, the son of the late Will and Rachel Owings. Dave retired in 2012 after 35 years as a Funeral Director at Omps Funeral....

As we gear up for back to school the members of the Back Creek Ruritan want to highlight our 2025 Scholarship Winner- Colin Thomas.
Colin is a 2025 graduate from James Wood High School and will be attending JMU this fall with plans to study business. Colin is the son of Erin and Justin Thomas of Wi******er, VA. Colins mother is JWHS Alumni, Class of 1999.
Congratulations Colin on all your hard work and dedication and accomplishments. We wish you the best as you get ready for the next chapter of your life. 💜💛
