Summer League Scores have been updated after Week 3. Scores are getting better. The ASA Course will still be up this week and for those who missed it last week can shoot it this week too but only for their Week 3 score. The Week 4 range is up and running. Remember it is the yellow numbered course and not the ASA course. The first target is up from the range about 20 yards in the woods. Remember, you can only shoot a range 2 times in one week. MAKE SURE NOBODY IS ON THE ASA RANGE IF YOU ARE SHOOTING THE YELLOW NUMBER RANGE. You will be stretched this week. Good luck!

Big Creek Archery’s Summer 3D League is rolling right along. One rule change starting this week is shooters can only shoot the course twice to get a score for the week. We have some people traveling a pretty good ways to shoot and they can only make down here to shoot once a week, so to make it fair, we are only allowing local people to shoot the course twice a week. Once again there is still plenty of time to get 5 scores for the summer. The ASA Course from this week’s qualifier is the course(The Woods) to shoot this week. Come join us!

Big Creek Archery would like to thank all the folks that came out and shot the ASA Qualifier this weekend. We had 85 total archers. 73 that shot the qualifier and 12 that shot for fun. If you didn’t get a chance to come, you missed a great opportunity. Out of the 73 archers that shot the qualifier 40 shot over 200 with a lot of folks improving their SOTY scores. Even with my poor shooting I increased by a point! 🙄. I hope everyone enjoyed the hospitality and we look forward to handing out some money at the Battle of Big Creek on August 29th & 30th. Here are the scores from the weekend.

Day 1 of the ASA Qualifier at Big Creek was quite a day. Some monstrous scores were posted today and really helped people’s SOTY standings. Half the field shot 200 or better. A lot of people said they shot their personal best for an ASA Qualifier. The course is set-up to score. We have one more day for the qualifier so everybody come out and get yourself a good score at Big Creek.

Well……. I’ve got good news and bad news about this weekends ASA qualifier at Big Creek. First, the good news is, one thing about being a former head coach is it still has its perks. I was able to grab one of our sideline fans and hook it up by the pavilion. Oh yes, less bugs and a lot cooler. If I had a water hook up , it would spray a mist but I will just take the fan now. Now, the bad news. I swear I’m jinxed. I’ve worked all week setting things up. Making the course scoreble and hoping people can improve their SOTY scores. Had no problem, other than the heat, all week. I get out here this morning and the farmers directly across from the range decide today is the day we fertilize. Yep the fresh smell of chicken💩. SMDH! I can’t win for losing! Maybe we will have a west wind tomorrow. We will still be here both days. We will have concessions. I have bug spray on the table. It’s going to be warm but the course is mainly in the woods. 2 water coolers iced up on the range. $25 fun shoot, $30 for the qualifier. We look forward to hosting y’all this weekend.

Busy Week at Big Creek. First, the Summer 3D League is in full swing with 25 Archers participating so far. There are some familiar names missing and there is still plenty of time to get 5 week scores before the end of the Summer. Week 1 is in the books and I have posted the scores. Week 2 range is set and ready to be shot. Next, we will be hosting the 2nd to last ASA Qualifier this weekend and I promise you that you will want to come and get a score this weekend for SOTY. Course will be set up to score. There are 40 targets out at Big Creek on 2 ranges. The range on the right(The Woods) is for the qualifier. The range on the left(The Open) is for the Summer 3D League. You will not be able to shoot the Summer League course till after the qualifier gets finished on both Saturday and Sunday. The qualifier will be from 8am - till the last group gets done on both days. After that you can shoot the Summer League course. It is $30 to shoot the qualifier. $25 to shoot for fun. $50 to shoot the Summer League unless you are a Big Creek member. We will have concessions for the qualifier both days. Type in Jefferson County Middle School to find us. We look forward to hosting everyone!

You can tell that I am retired and my halftime Athletic Directors job doesn’t have much going on when school is out because I spent the entire day down at Big Creek. With the Summer League going on and hosting an ASA Qualifier in a couple of week, I have also decided to add a Shootdown Range to Big Creek. This will be for all those shooting duos and trios that talk all the trash to each other about who is a better shooter. Maybe a little wager can be involved? We watch all the ASA Shootdowns on TV but we may never get a chance to shoot one so here it is. Pay no attention to the very elementary boxes I’ve drawn to shoot from but just know you can rotate through all 5 targets. If you want to do a 6th and final arrow you can. 2 cones will be available for that. Just trying to give people more to do this summer. Lol! I’m calling out Jake Martin right now, we have been shooting about the same this year! 😂. Y’all check out Big Creek!

There will be a lot going on this summer at Big Creek Archery. First, our Summer League(see details from earlier post)will kick off tomorrow June 1st and running till July 31st. New range will be set every Monday except for ASA qualifier week and it will be set on that Friday. You will have 9 weeks to post 5 scores. You will post scores(And number of twelves) on the Scoreboard under the pavilion. There will be markers on the table and a box to collect all scorecards(please put date on the scorecard). Only post your best score for a week. Scorecards will be in the mailbox behind range along with the bank bag for non members wanting to shoot. $50. Your 5 best scores during the summer along with your score from the The State Farm Battle of Big Creek on August 29th and 30th will determine who wins the belt and finishes in the top 5. In the meantime, Big Creek will be hosting one of the last 3 ASA qualifiers on June 13th and 14th. I have been telling people to shoot the South Carolina State ASA Championship on June 13th then come to Big Creek for the qualifier on June 14th but I have since learned that the SC ASA State Championship has been moved till late July so I will be there both days. Only 3 qualifiers left to get SOTY points so come on out. We look forward to hosting you this summer no matter what your archery endeavors may include. Good luck everybody!

With the help of the newly titled Captain Trip Penn(I guess we are going to have stop and salute him now! 🙄 well deserved however) the Final Shoot for the Summer League will be in conjunction with The State Farm Battle at Big Creek(SFBABC) on August 29th and 30th. We will have 9 weeks of shooting keeping 1 score per week starting June 1st till July 31st(You don’t have to shoot every week, you just need 5 scores to try to win.) You keep your top 5 week scores from the summer and we will add those scores to your SFBABC score. The SFBABC will have to be shot with the hunting set-up rules for it if you want to compete for the money and that will be your final score for the summer. Now, if you do not wish to compete in the SFBABC and only want to shoot for the final summer league score then you may use your target bow set-up for the SFBABC shoot. The Summer League is for the Belt and plaques and the SFBABC is for the money. You could win both! Summer League is $50 or be a Big Creek member and the SFBABC will be $30 for everybody trying to win the money. Come get your archery on this Summer! Please contact me with any questions!
