There will be a lot going on this summer at Big Creek Archery. First, our Summer League(see details from earlier post)will kick off tomorrow June 1st and running till July 31st. New range will be set every Monday except for ASA qualifier week and it will be set on that Friday. You will have 9 weeks to post 5 scores. You will post scores(And number of twelves) on the Scoreboard under the pavilion. There will be markers on the table and a box to collect all scorecards(please put date on the scorecard). Only post your best score for a week. Scorecards will be in the mailbox behind range along with the bank bag for non members wanting to shoot. $50. Your 5 best scores during the summer along with your score from the The State Farm Battle of Big Creek on August 29th and 30th will determine who wins the belt and finishes in the top 5. In the meantime, Big Creek will be hosting one of the last 3 ASA qualifiers on June 13th and 14th. I have been telling people to shoot the South Carolina State ASA Championship on June 13th then come to Big Creek for the qualifier on June 14th but I have since learned that the SC ASA State Championship has been moved till late July so I will be there both days. Only 3 qualifiers left to get SOTY points so come on out. We look forward to hosting you this summer no matter what your archery endeavors may include. Good luck everybody!

With the help of the newly titled Captain Trip Penn(I guess we are going to have stop and salute him now! 🙄 well deserved however) the Final Shoot for the Summer League will be in conjunction with The State Farm Battle at Big Creek(SFBABC) on August 29th and 30th. We will have 9 weeks of shooting keeping 1 score per week starting June 1st till July 31st(You don’t have to shoot every week, you just need 5 scores to try to win.) You keep your top 5 week scores from the summer and we will add those scores to your SFBABC score. The SFBABC will have to be shot with the hunting set-up rules for it if you want to compete for the money and that will be your final score for the summer. Now, if you do not wish to compete in the SFBABC and only want to shoot for the final summer league score then you may use your target bow set-up for the SFBABC shoot. The Summer League is for the Belt and plaques and the SFBABC is for the money. You could win both! Summer League is $50 or be a Big Creek member and the SFBABC will be $30 for everybody trying to win the money. Come get your archery on this Summer! Please contact me with any questions!

Big Creek Archery will again be hosting their Summer 3D Archery League. It will be the Battle for the Belt.

Stakes:
Black - All Men’s Ages 18 - 49 Open Set-Ups
White - Men 18 - 49 years old Hunter Set-Ups
Senior Men 50 - 65 Open Set-Ups
Women’s Open Set-Ups
Youth 13 - 17 Open Set-Ups
Red - Men’s Senior 50 - 65 Hunter Set-Ups
Youth 13 - 17 Hunter Set-Ups
Super Senior 65 - Up Open Set-Ups
Blue - Super Senior 65 - Up Hunter Set-Ups
Women’s Hunter Set-Ups
Kids 10 - 12
Gold - Kids 9 - younger
Traditional Shooters

Classes Set-Ups:
Open: Anything Goes(Magnification/ Long Stabilizer)
Hunter: No Magnification / 18 inch Stabilizer Max

Range will change weekly.

ASA Scoring Only

You cannot get a score during the ASA Qualifier time.
(June 13th and 14th : 8am - 2pm) All other times are accepted.

Members No Cost / Non Members a one time fee of $50 Due when you come to your 1st Shoot. Cash/Venmo.

You can shoot up to 3 times a week and you must shoot with somebody else to have a valid score (No Shooting By yourself)but you are only able to keep 1 score for the week. And post that score with your number of 12 rings shot in that one score on the scoreboard under the carport.(ex. 202 - 4)
Your top 5 scores over 8 weeks. (In case you want to take a couple of weeks vacation) The Weeks Are The Following:

June 1 - 7
June 8 - 14
June 15 - 21
June 22 - 28
June 29 - July 5
July 6 - 12
July 13 - 19
July 20 - 24
July 25 Club Championship Shoot (This Score Must Count)

Your top 5 scores over 8 weeks. We will then have a final league shoot on Saturday July 25 for your final score that will count. Those 5 scores will determine the 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th - 5th Place for the final Shootdown on the 25th. Y’all come get good 3D practice while being competitive and enjoy shooting your bow.

All I ever hear is we need more TAC events well I don’t have 300 acres but…..I can have 20 targets out to between 30 and 100 yards. Big Creek is set up for TAC archers. For the TAC archers there will be Long Brown Stakes by the Target Numbers. There will also be the typical ASA set-up stakes. Black, White, Red, and Blue stakes are out there. I’m going to call out certain people who are always wanting to send arrows long distances and challenge them to come try the course: Kevin May, Toby Aderhold, Dietrich Stallworth, Brayden Taylor, Mitch Woods, Cam Busby, and Justin Bowen. How could I leave out Trip Penn? Let me throw in Rodney Roberts too. You guys are always wanting a challenge well here it is. Come get you some! $20 for any nonmember wanting to try the course. Anybody can try it.

I decided to participate in my second ever ProAm event this weekend in Russell County , Alabama. Had an equipment problem day one and didn’t score good at all. Day 2 was better but still not up to par. I have a long way to go! Now as far as other Georgia Archers, what a weekend! Georgia had 42 archers finish in the Top 10 with 10 archers getting on the podium. I like to highlight the ones who have participated in events at Big Creek Archery. I will start with the group in the picture. Darren Meadows finished 2nd(Again) and Jonathon Caldwell finished 3rd in Senior Known 45. I’m sure it’s killing Jonathon to have lost by a point to Darren😁! Awesome guys!

I am recognizing Alisha Beck once again for finishing 3rd in Women’s Pins 40 with the hope of her coming to Big Creek Archery in the future.

And I have to give a shout out to Kevin and Suzanne May for letting me ride along while they participated in their very first ProAm event. Kevin finished 19th in Hunter 45 and Suzanne showed out by finishing 12th in Women’s Pin 30! The weather was great and the camaraderie was a lot of fun. I look forward to this weekend when Outback Archery has a competition on Saturday and Olin Price always sets a good course. The Ogeechee Bowmen crowd has an ASA qualifier on Sunday and you can hear Mr. Rickey Diederich tell all his stories. Get out and enjoy archery this Spring!

I would like to thank Team On-Point specifically Trip and Kim Penn for hosting the GBAA Spring Turkey 3D Archery event. We had great weather and an awesome group of shooters. I would also like to thank Rickey Diederich and his crew of officers of the GBAA for being so organized and getting people signed up for the Event and to be members of the GBAA/NFAA. We had 72 shooters and some great competition. Make sure you sign up for the GBAA 3D State Shoot held by Team On-Point in July. Mr. Diederich and the Ogeechee Bowmen will host the GBAA State Field event in May. The GBAA is another great organization in the Archery World. Next up for the Big Creek Archery Club is a 3D event for Tony Troxel and the S3DA held on April 4th. Here are the scores from this weekend. Y’all come see us!
