We want to share a wonderful feel-good story with you all today that shows how people come together in times of crisis to help others in need.
Recently there were some severe fires in Spokane, WA, where many people lost their homes and everything they owned. What happened there is truly devastating.
We learned about a young woman, Amanda, and the work she had been doing to organize relief efforts for her local community in Spokane. Thanks to an overabundance of supplies at the rescue center, we were able to donate two of every size wire dog crate that we had, two large x-pens, all of the dog food we had been storing, a few dog beds, and some other miscellaneous pet supplies and toys. On August 17th, Amanda and her two daughters drove a moving-sized truck all the way to Stanwood to pick everything up.
In addition, one of our awesome volunteers, Debbie, arranged for even more dog food to add to the haul that Amanda was taking back home to Spokane. BIG THANKS to Scarlett and David at the Bellevue, WA Pet Evolution store for their generous donation to this worthy cause.
Throughout this process, we found out that Amanda wasn’t a stranger to MLBR, in fact, she is one of our adopters!! Knowing that just made this all the more special and we are so thankful we had the extra supplies and food to donate.
Amanda, you are such an amazing person, and we want to THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for making the trek over this way and for doing what you’ve done to help the Spokane fire victims. We hope that in some small way, our contribution to your efforts helped those in need.
