Happy Homecoming SHS….
Homecoming celebrates a connection to a place and its people. For these Spartans, that connection is part of their work every day.
We’re closing our week of SHS alumni staff spotlights with three graduates who are helping create meaningful experiences for today’s students.
🔴 Tristan Hanson, Class of 2002, played tennis, ran track, operated a lawn-mowing business, and loved woodworking. “I really loved woodworking and took woodshop three periods my senior year, one period as a TA.” He credits Mr. Chandler with preparing him for the world beyond school. “He was the best teacher I ever had.” Returning means giving back to the school and community that gave him those opportunities.
🔴 McKenzie Malley, Class of 2012, worked at Stanwood Cinemas and remembers Mr. Hawk as a memorable teacher. Her experience as an SHS student helps her connect with students today. “I always try to treat them the way I wanted to be treated when I was in their shoes, especially since the staff here made such a huge impact on my life.”
🔴 Lauren Amundson, Class of 2003, played volleyball, basketball, and tennis and participated in FBLA and National Honor Society. She remembers Mr. Klundt, Jim Piccolo, and Doreen Schmitt among the adults who made a lasting impression. “There were some amazing adults who made a lasting impact on my life and contributed to the positive experiences I had as a Spartan.” Now, she’s continuing that tradition: “I love Stanwood, and I'm proud to give back to the community that helped shape me and continue the traditions that make our school so special.”
All week, these alumni have shared a common thread: people at SHS made a difference in their lives, and now they’re doing the same for a new generation.
Happy Homecoming, Spartans!
