To celebrate one of nature’s best pest controllers, join US Fish & Wildlife Service, Montcalm County 4-H, and MCD on Thursday, October 8 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Montcalm County Fairgrounds Ash Building to bust myths and learn about bats’ importance and how you can help protect these vital creatures.

We were blown away by the number of volunteers who joined our MiCorps Sampling Day last Saturday, October 3! So, a massive thank you to our wonderful volunteers, and our project partner Lower Grand River Organization of Watersheds - Grand Valley Metro Council, for helping us complete our goal of sampling at all seven of our fall sites in one day!

What comes next? All aquatic bugs collected on Saturday will be identified by volunteers to determine water quality in the Flat River Watershed at an upcoming event in November, details TBD.

Join MCD & LGROW this Saturday, October 3 at 10:00 am in Greenville for Macroinvertebrate Sampling! We will meet at Jackson’s Landing Park at 10:00 AM, then disperse to sites in Greenville, Gowen, Belding, and Lowell to collect samples of aquatic organisms that can help determine water quality. All ages welcome, adult supervision preferred. No experience required. Volunteers may get in the water at their own discretion.

Spooky season is right around the corner, which means the Haunted Forest is too! 🎃👻🧛‍♂️

Join us Friday, October 23 at the Comden-Towle Model Forest for candy and scares! Walk our family friendly Trick or Treat Trail from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM to play minigames and win candy. Afterwards, challenge yourself on our Scare Trail from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM…if you dare. No RSVP required. $5 donation recommended. Please dress for the weather.
