Salt Lake Astronomical Society

Salt Lake Astronomical Society We are a group of people interested in astronomy & related sciences. All are welcome! You don’t need to be an expert to join! Salt Lake and Tooele counties.

We have monthly meetings and frequent star parties where all can enjoy astronomy in good company. For over 40 years SLAS has shared the stars with the residence and visitors in the Salt Lake City area. Our non-profit, volunteer run organization conists of over 200 local astronomers. SLAS is one of the most active astronomical organizations in the United States, holding over 40 events every year. S

LAS members participate in free public outreach events, private observations, scientific research, star lore lectures, astrophotography, artistic sketch, special training events, scientific lectures, and more. Please see https://slas.us to learn about membership opportunities. The group has an outstanding observatory in Stansbury Park, Tooele County, Utah. But it is not based solely in Tooele County. The monthly general meetings are held at Salt Lake Community College, Taylorsville, Salt Lake County, and the Salt Lake Astronomical Society hosts many public star parties and sun parties in Salt Lake City and other parts of Salt Lake County, as well as at the Stansbury Park Observatory Complex (SPOC). The public is welcome to attend the events without charge.
