REMINDER!! Idaho Gives is GOING ON NOW! 🙌

This is Idaho’s statewide campaign of giving, and it’s a big moment for nonprofits like ours who are out doing the work on the ground.
For Pulaski Users Group, that means trail maintenance, stewardship, and keeping these backcountry places open, safe, and cared for.

If you’ve ever used these trails… you’ve benefited from this work.
Now’s your chance to be part of it!

Our goal this year is $10,000 to support the season ahead.

Earth Day is more than a date on the calendar. It is a reminder of the work that happens all year long. 🌍

From clearing trails and improving drainage to protecting the landscapes we all enjoy, stewardship is built one project at a time. Every volunteer, every tool, and every mile of trail maintained helps keep our public lands healthy and accessible for future generations.

Thank you to everyone who shows up, puts in the work, and helps care for the land. That is what Earth Day is all about. 🫶

Tools of the Trail: It Takes All of Them! ⚒

Every tool on this list has a purpose. From cutting logs and moving rock to packing gear deep into the Wilderness, these tools help volunteers get real work done on the ground.

Trail work is not possible without the right equipment, teamwork, and people willing to show up and put in the effort. Together, these tools help keep trails open, safe, and ready for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who helps carry the tools, share the knowledge, and keep the trails alive. The work continues, and so does the legacy of stewardship!

Tools of the Trail: Pack Horses and Mules 🐴🎒

When the work takes us deep into Wilderness, horsepower still matters. Pack horses and mules are essential partners on the trail, helping us move the heavy gear needed to maintain and protect remote backcountry routes where mechanized equipment is not allowed.

These animals carry the loads that make trail work possible. A single crosscut saw can weigh 15 to 25 pounds. A Pulaski runs about 5 to 7 pounds. Add in shovels, axes, fuel, food, safety gear, and camp supplies, and a typical pack load can easily reach 120 to 200 pounds per animal, depending on the terrain and conditions! 🤯

Without pack stock, many wilderness projects would take days longer or simply would not happen at all. They are not just transportation. They are teammates.

From hauling tools to supporting multi-day trail crews, pack horses and mules help us get the job done and keep our wilderness trails open for everyone to enjoy!

!!!CAUTION!!! Join Pulaski Users at your own risk.... PUG is not responsible for any users who fall in love with this work!

PUG events are more than trail work days. They are opportunities to learn new skills, build lasting friendships, and experience the satisfaction that comes from caring for the land together. From swinging tools to sharing stories at the end of the day, every project leaves a mark not just on the trail, but on the people who show up!

If you have been thinking about getting involved, this is your sign. The work is meaningful, the views are worth it, and the community is one of a kind.

Come join us and see what stewardship looks like in action! Visit www.pulaskiusers.org for our upcoming events.
