So... that's a wrap.
Five years for us.
Two hundred and fifty years for America.
I can honestly say this was the hardest show on me personally that we've ever done. If you saw everything that happened behind the scenes, you'd understand why. There were so many problems this year... and I hope you never knew.
The Moretti crew ran into issues early that morning getting here. Thanks to a whole pile of people who believed the show had to go on, we got them back on track. From there it felt like one little hiccup after another. Then the rain came. Not only did all of you get soaked... so did the fireworks. Everything came to a stop again.
We had a couple of kids get separated, so we held the show until they were safely back with their families. Then, just 30 seconds before we fired the first shell... my FM transmitter decided it had enough and blew. Thankfully I had a backup. It wasn't nearly as powerful, but it got us through.
Somehow... we still did it.
Looking out across that crowd tha came reminded me exactly why we do this.
Once again, we had an incredible turnout. While I didn't get much time with my own family, I hope every one of you got to spend time with yours. What an incredible honor it is to help give those moments back to people. Those memories are worth more than anything.
To our volunteers... if you know one, see one, or run into one this , please shake their hands. Tell them thank you. They gave up their own holiday so all of your families could enjoy theirs.
To our sponsors... thank you will never be enough. Every hot dog, every inflatable, every activity, every firework that lit up the sky happened because you believed in this community. If you know one of our sponsors, give them a handshake, a pat on the back, and let them know how much it meant to you.
But most of all...
To the kids...
We love you.
If one of those smiling faces belonged to your family today, give them an extra hug from all of us. hold them just a little tighter for a little longer.
Tell them this is a great world filled with great people who love them.
Tell them people still care.
If they ever doubt it, remind them to look at what happened here today. Thousands of people came together—not because they had to, but because they wanted to. They came to laugh, to celebrate, to help strangers, and to make memories together. Our differences didnt matter we united and stood as one. strong.. and proud.
Tell them not to grow up too fast.
Tell them to never stop believing.
Tell them to keep smiling.
Tell them to stay kind.
Tell them to keep dreaming.
And tell them that one day, when they're older, it's their turn to help create the kind of memories they experienced today.
