The Stanford Energy Club Projects Team is collaborating with Lumen Energy to offer this awesome fall internship!
Lumen Energy is a small and passionate team on a mission to unlock the next 10 million solar rooftops through flipping the project discovery model. Over the next few quarters, Lumen is targeting 20MW of transactions on its platform. Lumen’s platform profiles the economic potential for solar PV + storage for every building city-wide and co-optimizes the system design with grid economics. For users of the platform, Lumen makes it easier for building owners/developers to get paid to rent their roof; for installers, Lumen simply makes it easier and faster to discover the very best project opportunities. Lumen believes this systems-level approach can solve each parties’ needs while accelerating the decarbonization of the 125 million buildings nationwide.
This fall, Lumen is looking for passionate Stanford students interested in working part-time (15 hrs/week) to:
1) refine scalable ML models to forecast the 12-month electric load profile at one-hour resolution for commercial buildings
2) develop semi-supervised deep learning framework for automatic detection of solar PV panels, corresponding precise estimation of shape/size of PV arrays, and evaluating the quality of roof (age and condition) using very hi-res color satellite imagery.
Ideal candidates will have experience with time series analysis (e.g. STATS 207), unsupervised learning, and/or at least one of CS221/229/230/224N/231N or equivalent.
